How do you do your taxes. I've been doing my via the EZ form, but Im not sure if I will qualify for that this year. I heard if you file via Turbo Tax software that you could get your return in DAYS!!! I don’t want to sacrifice much of my return like going to H&R Block. Can someone give me some ideas?
2003 i used turbo tax 2002 i used an accountant. it's much better to use an accountant if your income came from sources other than just straight salary...or if you have odd deductions. last year...after using turbo tax...i still wondered if there were deductions i was missing or not considering. i did add an extra exemption this year with my newest son!! woo hoo!!
If all you have is w-2 income just use turbo tax. it works fine. Like Max said if you have other income (self employed for example) and you don't understand what is deductible see a tax professional. Word of advice - A tax professional is not a seasonal employee at H&R Block, Jackson, Hewitt, etc. All those folks have done is taken 20 hours of class room work and been taught the basics. Go see a CPA to be safe, ar at least an experienced tax preparer. If you do want to goto H&R Block call and schedule an appointment with the most experienced preparer they have in the office (usually the office manager).
great advice...worth restating again. if you have serious questions and not just a standard salary income, do NOT take it to someone like H&R Block.
We've been using Turbotax.com for the past few years. Last year was the first time in my life that I actually had to pay taxes, that sucked. Hopefully I'm getting a refund this year.
I can understand if you've got alot of deductions or alternative forms of income, but if all you're looking at is the W-2, a 1040, and the standard deduction, why would you waste money on turbotax or a CPA? The forms aren't that difficult...
Turbo Tax rules...Very easy and somewhat inexpensive...Even though I itemize and my ex has a business, it's perfect...
If you guys need a great CPA called Thuy Nguyen at 281-879-8588. She is located on the intersection of Wilcrest and Harwin. She has been doing my taxes for years. Great tax advice. She is pretty inexpensive for a CPA.
I'm a CPA and I love it. Actually love the money but hate the hours for the next 12 weeks. Definetely much different working in a partnership rather than working for a firm. Alot of firms it seems like you work your butt off and then don't get paid the bonus until the end of the year. When you do the work yourself and get teh check in hand, it's a wonderful feeling!
