Sources: Davis And Blount On Their Way To Miami
    By Marc Stein
    ESPN.com

The Miami Heat, reeling from the continued injury absence of Dwyane Wade and an 0-7 record in the preseason, are on the verge of a double boost to their depleted roster, according to NBA front-office sources Wednesday.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Heat will soon complete a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire swingman Ricky Davis and center Mark Blount.

The latest incarnation of the deal, according to one source, has Miami sending Antoine Walker, Michael Doleac and Wayne Simien to the Wolves for Davis and Blount.

Minnesota initially balked at taking back Walker in the deal, sources said, but it's believed that the Heat will send the Wolves at least one future draft pick to push the trade through.

Walker has fallen farther and farther out of favor with Miami coach Pat Riley since the Heat's 2006 championship, in part because of conditioning issues, but Minnesota might also have been convinced to shed its reservations and make the swap because Walker has only one year left on his contract more than Blount.

Never did like Antoine walkers game. He looks like he just throws up garbage shots and prays it goes in.

Celtics fans lose out on seeing Toine look like an ass on court. Atleast they don't have to deal with his horrible shot selection.

    IMO Miami will become worse.
Mark Blount is just a shooting center who cannot rebound nor defend the post. Miami's roster is built for a strong interior poster player (Shaq, Zo) to dominate inside the paint (thats why WZZ got cut, he had no post game and couldnt rebound the ball).
Ricky Davis is a similar player to Walker (low scoring efficiency, headcase, TO-prone)

T-wolves send out garbage and get garbage back, plus a 1st round pick? I think it's one of those where the team receiving the picks wins.

If the T-Wolves cut Walker, they'll come out winners in this deal. Just play a front-court of Jefferson, Craig Smith, and Gerald Green with Simien backing up and they'll have potential to get better than Miami by next year.

Ricky Davis and Wade in the same backcourt. That make the Heat at least semi-entertaining to watch...

You gotta love Minnesota's attitude going into this season. Most teams at least wait to see if their team is going to be sh*tty before tanking for the draft lottery. The T-Wolves aren't even trying to fool anybody into thinking that they are going to be competitive. Seriously, they could challenge the 72/73 Sixers for worst record ever...

Terrible trade by McHale - no surprise.
Moves Ricky out to avoid his bad attitude about being on a non-contending team, and Antoine Walker is the guy he gets in return? That's going to be an even worse situation!

Losing Blount for Doleac is his cap help, and Simien might be a servicable backup for Jefferson. Him + a draft pick caters to the youth movement.

If McHale can turn around and ditch Walker on anyone, it's a fair deal on his side. Otherwise, fans need to have a public execution.

I guess this is Minny dumping Ricky Davis while Miami dumps 'Toine? Davis hasn't played for a coach like Riles. Either Riles will force him into submission or Davis will drive Riles into retirement.

Blount has played well against Yao, I'm happy if he goes East. If Davis plays nice with Riley, he could be a good fit there. Problem is, Davis hates being the 3rd wheel....for some reason he thinks he is better than he is.

I don't know how it's going to work out but Ricky will make them faster on the court. Miami doesn't have confidence in Dorell Wright.Walker has gotten unfit and is getting older.

Everyone here dissing on Antoine Walker. Miami wanted to get rid of him..Minnesota didnt even want him until the deal was sweetened....

This is going to hurt RockMillenium's feeling...

Walker is a good player by his standard.

    LOL!

Minnesota is eyeing for the 1st pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. Might as well bring all the scrubs to one team.

Lose-lose. Ever since Ricky came through Cleveland I've seen what a loser the guy is. Here's a guy who thought Lebron would be HIS sidekick. If it were possible for avg ppgs to not count in a game, he's accomplished it. He's played w/ KG and yet they still managed to suck and blow at the same time. I don't know what kind of player people expect out of him, but I guarantee the Heat will have to win DESPITE Ricky.

In the opposite direction, 'Toine has given up trying to be a good basketball player. End of story.
