If we could get Aldridge without giving up any players like we can with Dwight...then Aldridge. Since we can't, Dwight. Dumb thread...one star.
If Dwight does not come to Houston I think we will land LaMarcus. He has already said he does not wanna be in Portland and I think we would be ALOT better with Aldridge instead of Dwight and all his baggage. Not to mention Aldridge is from Texas...
This is a misleading question. Are we talking about in a vacuum? Current Rockets roster? The point is, we can get Dwight right now while only giving up salary cap. We have to give up player ASSETS for LMA (good ones probably). LMA vs. Dwight for our team, just inserted, I would pick LMA...but that isn't what we have. Dwight we get for cap space...LMA costs us too much in players (like maybe Parsons and at least Asik...which would leave us no center in this hypo).
Aldridge is not close to the player Dwight is. It's crazy how suddenly this board has shifted to thinking Dwight is just a "good player" or something. He is a great player that impacts the game way more than Aldridge does.
If we get Dwight we are going to have to move Asik and Lin he has already stated he want's a BIG 3 if he comes to H-Town so we will not have our current roster either way. All im trying to say is I would choose LMA and Harden over Dwight and Harden.
To be honest, I would rather have Aldridge than Howard if both were FA this year. Not that I believe Howard's worse than Aldridge but LA fits our team perfectly. He can stretch the floor or play the low post and isn't a liability at the FT line while playing good enough D to not be a hindrance. The upgrade at the 4 would be bigger than the upgrade from Asik to Howard.
all things being equal - I'll take LMA... That said, we have to give up assets for LMA vs D12 is 'free'... personally, I want both.... D12 signs, we find a team willing to play 3rd wheel and give a future first for Lin, then we can trade Asik + TJones or DMo + TRob (or assets attained therein) + future first for LMA....
