Guys I need help deciding which phone to get as my contract is up and I don't already have a smart phone with a data plan.

I have researched both phones and in terms of hardware the Samsung Galaxy is better.

The looks and construction of the phone in my opinion are better with the iPhone because the phone is not huge and also it is made out of metal and two slabs of glass vs the plastic the Samsung is made out of.

The screen size on the Samsung Galaxy S II is much bigger and more vivid however the screen size on the iPhone is smaller but more clear in terms of resolution.

The operating system for the iPhone is proven with the new ios5 because of its ease of use.

The biggest difference besides the operating system and screen size to me was that the iPhone 4s is still a 3g phone where as the Samsung is offered on a 4g network.

So with this being said which phone is best to go with?

I would say wait until this tuesday to hear the details on the nexus prime. It sounds to be a galaxy s ii on steroids.

Personally after the hd2 I can no longer use a 3.5 inch display. That is why I went with a sensation.

Going from 4.3 inch to 3.5 inch has been surprisingly easy going from the iPhone 4 to Desire HD to the 4S. I didn't think I could do it but it went fine.

Neither is "real" 4g though. If you are getting these phones on AT&T, the speed will be similar.

If you want fast data, get an LTE phone on Verizon or maybe an HSPA+ device on T-Mobile.

But on ATT, it wont be much of a difference.

It just comes down to user preference. They are both good phones. iPhone is more polished, S2 will be more customizable.

if you're asking us, my guess is you haven't played with iOS or android much...?

questions you need to ask yourself:

do you like messing with different settings and customizing your phone? ease of use?
how important is battery life? do you charge your phone every night?
    do you own apple products?

android lets you customize your own style, in every way possible, make it super unique, the envy of your friends... but it takes time

apple is like the 'plug and play' type, hardly ever messing with settings, use it the way apple intends you to use it, very good battery life

    can't go wrong with either

What do you mean by more customizable? Also I plan on going with Sprint because i feel as if CDMA has better signal quality than gsm networks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't 4g use more battery power?

GS2 easy, unless you like being babied by Apple. Most people do.

Customizable in terms of widgets, homescreens, and other stuff. Others can answer this one better.

4G LTE phones use more battery life.

iPhone is typically better on battery life than android

I got pissed off at Apple and swore my next phone wouldn't be an iPhone. I wanted to wait for a good Windows phone, but got sick of waiting... saw the Galaxy S II and jumped all over it the hour it was available. It hasn't disappointed me yet.

Neither. Wait for the Nokia phone...

Either that or a focus or an HTC HD7s. I've had both those phones and loved them. Trust me, get your hands on a Windows Phone and you won't look back...

I've owned both and I went with the 4S in the end. You will not be disappointed either way, to be honest.
