    Suspended for

Manziel should have known that someone could profit at a later date. He should have known not to participate in this type of activity.

    Give me a break.

Anyone page the NCAA about Clowney, Bridgewater, and every other NCAA star? I guess they too, should have known not to participate in this type of activity.

Wrong ... Taking money for signing your name is against NCAA bylaws and there is zero proof of that.

He is only being suspended for signing so many and they say he should have known better that they were going to go up for sale. I think the half game suspension is bogus, but whatever. Just accept it and let's move on with the season and forget about this BS.

The bylaws prohibit a player from receiving compensation (money, tattoos, etc) from using their likeness (i.e. autographs) and it also prohibits the player from knowingly allowing someone else from profiting from their likeness (besides the NCAA, Texas A&M, media outlets, of course).

But by signing 4,500 autographs, you are allowing others to profit off your likeness and should be ruled ineligible.

Other players are probably doing to same, and the rule should be changed, but right now, it's not allowed.

I find that hilariously ironic. Why do you think the NCAA just stopped advertising player jerseys on their site? They didn't want a law suit on thier hands.

Keep in mind that I don't even like aTm

One half? What's the point? That doesn't send any message other than the NCAA is stupid.

They actually have too many suits on their hand to handle anymore.
O'Bannon v NCAA might do enough damage to change the whole system.

oooo 1/2 of a game. that will teach him! but you lie about having dinner with neon, then you're out for the season. I'd rather suspend him for half the season or don't suspend him at all.

    johnny just wins. :)

    Wow, that's great.

Well, 25k to sit out the first half of a cupcake/glorified scrimmage actually sounds like a good tradeoff - I hope more players take advantage of this loophole rather than the slave labor system they're currently yoked to.

Not trying to be an arse, but where does it say that said student-athlete should be ruled inelegible. To me this is a rule and if it is broken that student-athlete gets punished. In this case the punishment is weak and a waste of time but a punishment nonetheless.
