LG’s Ice Cream Smart is a flip phone blast from the past

LG has unveiled a new phone that, at a glance, could be mistaken for something from a decade ago. The Ice Cream Smart is a flip phone, but unlike the older shell-like mobiles this one is smart.

What's crazy is that thing's screen is exactly the same size as the first 5 iPhone generations (3.5"). I can't believe people thought that a touch screen, video-playing device with a screen that small was ideal at one point. I remember when I got a Nexus 4 (4.7 inch screen), all of the iPhone people were like "Oh my god, like that thing is totes gigantic or whatevers" (because that's how iPhone people sound in my head).

upgraded adreno 430 GPU in the 810 should help, but sheesh... battery better be a decent size.

I can't say I'm too happy with my G3, but maybe I got a bit of a dud. I've never switched phones before my contract was up, but this may be the first time. Right now, I may be ready to give the iPhone another try.

LG losing any momentum they had in the cell phone market. They peaked at the G2. It's all downhill from here, folks. Bad decisions abound.

That sentiment seems to be the exact opposite of this report:

2014 LG Sales Up 25% Over 2013 Numbers

What? LG G3 was pretty much universally hailed as the best bang for your buck phone.

    Meh.

Bad battery life, from what I saw. Screen (the big feature) not all that impressive. That title goes to the Oneplus One, in a landslide, despite their problems, easily.

Yeah that's because it came with a quad hd screen. Samsung Note 4 battery life isn't something to marvel at either but it's the tradeoff for a higher resolution phone.

Yeah, but the difference is neglible on a screen that small. I have a Oneplus One. All things considered (budget, battery life, performance, everything), I wouldn't trade it for any other phone out there, besides maybe the Note 4. Even if I do get the shaft from Cyanogen and customer service.

I can get three days battery life, with six hours of on screen time in a pinch.

Difference is not negligible when you are watching 1440p videos, let me tell you that haha.
Especially on Samsung's Super AMOLED screens. Those things are beautiful on full brightness and with a tinge of oversaturation.

I don't know. It makes 2k video shot from the phone look great too.

I'll gladly trade battery life for that feature, but that's just me.

I also carry a powerbank around so battery life is pretty much something I never worry about.

Huh? I use my Note 4 like crazy, tons of on-screen time, and have had zero issue with battery life.

LG has been on the rise since the G2...and they are gaining more and more popularity. The G4 will be very solid.

The LG G3 was arguably the best phone of 2014...and definitely top 3.
