Capela would be a great intimidating if he could gain 30 lbs of muscle. Put in on the Hugh Jackman diet.

As opposed to DMo, I don't think Capela needs to spend a lot of time putting on weight. He already looks big out there. Just needs more time with the coaching staff learning the right way to play.

If he continues to put up these type of numbers when he gets 30+ minutes per game, he won't be down in D League for more than a month.

Agreed. It's about developing muscles that fire quickly to what he sees. These blocks came from positioning. When he adds quickness to that... we might actually have a really good player on our hands.

Wow, he's like a motumbo who can get up and down the court.

His length alone would give us another rim protector, which is what happens when dwight is out... see MAVS game. Guarantee those lobs would not get to chandler if Clint was around the rim. His wing span is that of a yao ming for the love of god and he can jump. (exaggeration)

I liked when he stole the ball and jammed it. if that was dmo.. a layup would have happened. big men should jam not lay ups.

Capela has a lot of potential , just needs to develop on the offensive end , I notice him doing nothing a lot on that end. Defensively he can be a game changer .....

He scored on a number of pick and rolls in that game. There was another video up on that.

His PT is limited to only about 15 min per game (which will also be about what he gets as a back-up), so his motor is always running.

If Howard would buy into the P&R instead of post touches .... this team would be much better offensively.

I can't believe those of you who are talking about how he needs to develop offensively. You guys are greedy. I'll be more than happy with him if he becomes a rotation worthy defensive big. Especially if his soft hands enable him to catch lobs and he's able to get garbage points around the basket.

If he develops his offensive game, that's just the icing on the cake. And then we're talking about someone with all-star potential.

p.s. 11.5 blocks per 36 minutes?!?!?!? Even if that average were cut in half in the NBA I'd be ecstatic about this pick and his future with the Rockets!

As much as people rag on him, getting a young Sam Dalembert type for 4 years guaranteed on a rookie contract to back up Dwight is a huge win if he can prove that he can protect the rim someone like this in the NBA even without developing his game much offensively.

The backup 5 spot right now is a huge liability for this team, and really good backup 5's are not cheap and easy to come by. How many teams in the league actually have legitimate rim protection with their backup 5's?

    -Memphis with Koufas
    -The Bulls with Gibson
    -Minnesota with Dieng
    -Utah with Gobert
    -Brooklyn with Plumlee

That's about it, and most of those players are going to be starters either on that team or another team in the next year or two I'm almost sure.

If the Rockets are able to get that kind of player out of Capela, they have a major major hole plugged for 3 more years after this one. That's a huge win for the 25th pick in the draft.

Bring him up in a couple of weeks. We could definitely use see some big bodies for rebounds and block shots.
