Hard to believe but the new season is upon us already!

Things kick off this weekend with the Community Shield game between Man-U and Chelsea but it won't live up to the hype b/c it sounds like most of the regulars will be held out.

There are lots of new faces but sadly there won't be anymore Thierry Henry to awe and amaze.

Great news for us Man-U fans (besides the 9 yr old ronaldinho ;) ), Tevez is finally going to join the Red devils: Tevez to sign with Man-U this Weekend

My perdictions for top 5 are:

    1. Man-U
    2. Chelsea
    3. Liverpool
    4. Arsenal
    5. Man City

    Leading goal scorer:

    Drogba

Week 1 Games to be televised on Fox Soccer Channel:

Sat. Aug. 11 West Ham - Manchester City 10 a.m.
    Sat. Aug. 11 Aston Villa - Liverpool 12 p.m.
    Sat. Aug. 11 Derby - Portsmouth 2:30 p.m.
    Sun. Aug. 12 Manchester United - Reading 11 a.m.

I'm going with ManU as well. I think what they added is going to be huge. A treble is a major possiblity this season. I do think Chelsea will be close as they gel better than they did last season. I think Arsenal is going to miss Henry more than they know.

    1. ManU
    2. Chelsea

    3.Liverpool
    4.Man City

Liverpool should be at the top with the addition of Fernando Torres. I just hope that Tom Hicks is a better soccer owner than baseball. GO REDS!

Yeah those 8 goals he scored away for the penalty spot last season should really help you make up those 21 points.

He has never played with guys like Gerrard and Alonso. This team is going to be fun to watch.

I am a big fan of Torres. The kid has amazing skill and is fun to watch. IMO he was one of the best players of the last WC. I don't think Liverpool will win it all but they will be up there, much better than last season anyhow.

Man-U's additions are just too good...Tevez, Hargreaves, Anderson. I am afraid of them losing Heinze (supposedly he is trying to leave but Sir Alex Fergie doesn't want to sell him off).

Your style of play is completely against what Torres needs. He's not going to be happy playing up top alone with long balls being played into him. When was the last time a striker succeeded with Liverpool? Morientes was great before he joined, terrible while he was there, and scored more goals from open play last season in far fewer games than Torres.

Yes, he's done for the vast majority, if not all, of the season.

Haven't I heard this the last five years or so?

Morientes was miscasted at Liverpool, and was terrible as a result. Torres actually has the skillset to play the deep-lying striker role, and he is a fantastic addition.

Last five years? How about the Champions League and FA Cup success? While this team has been disappointing within the Premier League, you have to respect their success outside of it.

I was referring to the Premiership, which is the real test of quality in my opinion, because you have to be at your best over a 10 month period. And for a while now, you've been disappointing in the league, which can account for your success in the cups. You've been dead in the league by January, leaving you the ability to concentrate all your efforts on the Champions' League and FA Cup. While teams like Chelsea and Man United have been fighting on all three fronts.

 I ordered a Roy Keane Spurs #10 07/08 jersey the other day and it cost my ass like $110 US. Damned weak dollar.

Why would you order a Roy Keane Spurs jersey?

Hey I am a Man-U fan, I could care less how Liverpool does so long as it is not #1. I am just predicting they will have better success, 3rd behind Chelsea.

Scratch that. He should be banned for life for ordering a Spurs jersey of any sort.

You make a legit point. I agree with you that the Premiership is the ultimate evaluation of how good is a team, but getting winning those other cups were no cakewalks. With the addition of Torres, I have every confidence that they will at least be neck-and-neck with Chelsea and Man U.

    1. Arsenal
    2. ManU
    3. Chelsea
    4. Liverpool

    Top Scorer Robin Van Persie.

Biggest shock: Arsenal win the title.

Mourhino gets the axe as Chelsea can't keep pace with ManU and a surprising Arsenal as they get out of the gate well.

Best newcomer. Brazilian Croat Eddie Da Silva scores 14 goals.

Most predicatable result: Spuds don't finish in the top 4.

I know. I was just referring to that fact that for years I've been hearing at the start of every season that this is the year Liverpool actually compete for the title, yet they never do.

Ah, pure Gooner propaganda. Every bit of it. :D
