Vince Young gets 6-year deal with Titans
    By JOHN MCCLAIN

Former Texas quarterback Vince Young has agreed to a six-year contract with the Titans that includes $25.7 million guaranteed money, according to a person with knowledge of the negotations.

The third pick overall in the draft will sign a contract for $600,000 less in guaranteed money than defensive end Mario Williams, the top pick, is getting from the Texans.

Agent Major Adams has negotiated a contract that could be worth as much as $58 million.

Williams' contract with the Texans could be worth as much as $54 million.

Young's deal means New Orleans Saints pick Reggie Bush could be in for a long holdout.

Bush's agent Joel Segal began serious negotiations on Thursday.

Bush, the Heisman Trophy winner expected to be taken first by the Texans, now wants a contract that equals Williams'.

The Saints have been known to be frugal when signing top draft picks and could be in for protracted contract talks

Any significance to the SIX year deal for Vince? Was that a way to reward him with a year for each point he scored on the Wonderlic?

    :D

he made a bad decision with his agent though. I've never seen an athlete who has seemed like they have done everything right this far along. its really astonishing. I keep waiting for him to screw up something.

Reggie Bush was demanding more money than Williams.

Now he's going to demand more money than Vince, bank on it.

So much for the predecent of slotted contract amounts, this is going to screw things up for years to come.

Looks like we got a good deal for Mario! I wonder what Bush's camp will be asking for now....probably at least $27 million guaranteed and 60 million max over 6 years.

Isn't it common for QBs to get more than other draftees. Wasn't this the case when Kellen Winslow Jr. wanted to get paid his "slotted" amount when he turned down the most money ever offered to a TE.

Also, I believe Mario Williams took a little less than he could have gotten because he basically bought his way to the top of the draft. He had little leverage as he would not have been the top pick had he not agreed to a deal before the draft.

So much greed. They act like little girls, sisters who bicker over who has the newest barbie.

Reggie better perform up to what his arrogant self thinks he is.

Yeah but consider that the back end of NFL contracts are fantasy anyway and are usually restructured for cap reasons, or the player opts out for more $$$, or cancelled by cutting the player, I think the guaranteed $$ is the relevant part.

So does he still have "idiots" for agents, since he came away with the most money, is probably 2nd in endorsement money and still went 3rd in the draft?

It might typically not end up mattering more, but in terms of negotiations of draftpicks.. it is important.

I can't wait til we see the first draft class where no one signs until after training camp...

Major Adams just earned himself a lot of new business in the future with this deal. Well done.

Now I want to see what happens with Bush.

Could the other part incentive based? He could be getting none of it.

I really have no idea of what I'm talking about.

DonnyMost... which is the truth? And why did the article have to include the first statement about LESS money? I am puzzled as well.

You crack me up sometimes. At least you've made a few posts in a VY thread without typing "loverboy". :D
