I need the help of the board here. I am not someone who is big on energy drinks; my favorite drink is an aluminum can of Mello Yello (12 Fl Oz). I have tried to get into drinking coffee and really can't get into it (unless it is some specialty coffee that you get at starbucks which is too expensive - at least for me, lol).

I have obviously heard about Red Bull but have never had one. I thought Jolt Cola was one but apparently they aren't sold in middle Tennessee. What are some of the best energy drinks out there? Which have the best tastes and which ones taste like a Coke but with a kick to it? Thanks.

try red bull cola. it's like coke but has hints of other spices, pretty good.

though i used to be a sugar-free red bull addict, i have found that my stomach just can't handle it anymore. the last 2 times i've had an energy drink i've gotten crazy sick. inflamed stomach lining, vomiting problems. no more energy drinks for me.

If you're trying to use energy drinks as a substitute for coffee just stop while you're ahead. You will get sick. You will feel ****ty. And it will be insanely bad for you. I would instead suggest you start drinking tea. It tastes much better than coffee and has caffeine as well.

    No doubt.

soda > tea > coffee > energy drinks > cocaine

If you want to feel like you just did a couple lines of coke down a 16oz Low Carb Monster.

I have always hated energy drinks, but I have been buying these lately, they are the only ones that have not made me sick

Starting a habit of consuming energy drinks is not a road you want to go down.

I actually have drunk some sweet tea but the only brand I like is Milo's; not a fan of any others. Tea doesn't have as much as caffeine as coffee and maybe not even as much as coca-cola.

Outside of finalsbound's post - are pretty much all energy drinks taste like ****?

Energy drinks are terrible for you (and expensive).

If you really need the boost (assuming you are unable to get enough sleep, exercise 2-3 days a week, eat right, and drink lots of water to give you natural energy), try hot tea, or drink coffee black for two weeks straight. It will obviously be terrible at first, but everyone I know that has done it (I don't drink much coffee) acclimates to it and eventually likes it. Careful though, too much tea or coffee flushes your liver and dehydrates you, slowing metabolism -- which will ultimately make you feel worse because your body isn't able to convert food to energy as well. The best bet really is to drink lots of water, get sleep, and eat right, but I def. understand the need for a boost with a busy lifestyle.

5 hour energy is also very effective and better for you than energy drinks, but alas is pretty expensive to do often.

I don't think it's even a matter of taste, but health. energy drinks can cause long-term health problems

Hot tea made with a tea bag along with a spoon or two of sugar gives you enough energy to last you for a while. I am not sure about the statistics of how much caffeine is in hot tea vs. coffee, but i'm sure it is close.

As many of us have mentioned, drinking energy drinks over a long period of time really is not good for you. I did this for a while and honestly felt like I was having a heart attack. Nothing has ever done that before. So I never drank an energy drink after that and have not felt that way since.

Force yourself to get used to tea/coffee. All-natural is better for you. If you can drink them without adding cream/sugar even better.

The anti-oxidants in tea/coffee counter some of the negative effects of caffeine. Energy drinks have no such anti-oxidants and are generally packed full of nasty chemicals/sugars.

Honestly, after a while any energy drink is going to make you feel like ass. For about a two year period I drank two of those Starbucks energy drinks a day, which are just terrible for you.

If possible, try to just get an extra hour of sleep and drink lots of ice water. Your body will thank you.

Relying on caffeine daily is a bad idea. Its a drug, and like any other drug, you need more and more to increase your high. Energy drinks are especially bad because they pack so much caffeine and sugar into one punch.
Stay off the caffeine so your tolerance is low for when you do need it. Eating properly and having a good regular routine is a much better route to take.

I've been drinking dandelion tea/coffee it's meant to be a healthy alternative to coffee. The claims are it tastes similiar but it definately doesn't, not even close.
