Rumor seems a little off base to me, but in case it isn't. Would you want Brett Favre as the Houston Texans QB next year?

You left out, "No, we've already got $8MM and a 2nd round pick from this year tied up in a 'franchise' QB."

Yeah why not. I'd like to see Matt get a full season in, and build the team around him but for just plain ol for fun sakes bring in Brett. We'd be on the national stage even if we're barely a wild card team and can you imagine the build up to the Texans visit to Green Bay in early December!

Unless you think he's going to play a few years, this makes no sense. The goal of this team is to rebuild itself into something that can contend for many years. They have to find out whether or not Schaub is their QB of the future. Sitting him for yet another year (after many years behind Vick) is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Play the guy. Find out what you have. And keep building with youth. Anything else is just wasting a year.

Absolutely not. Durability concerns aside, I'd be stunned if Favre has a better season than Schaub, regardless of where he plays.

I don't have the inclination to dig through the other long thread on Favre. Why is Favre doing this? The Packers are on the verge of a breakthrough and he wants to jilt them. How is it that they are not his best choice for a ring? What did they do to offend him? Is he just that much of a prima donna?

I suspect he's doing it for the money.

    Shocking, I know.

Why would the Texans risk a year or two of Schaub's development for Favre? If we were a Super Bowl contender, maybe, but we're not.
