Over the cap? I could be wrong but doesn't that require luxery tax? Something that the owner refuses to pay.

What are we paying Stevie with? I thought we were doing it with the LLE? If we used the rest of the MLE then we could use the LLE on Chuck? It doesn't matter though, like uchlha said, we have his bird rights.

We have his Early Bird rights and we are over the cap, so we can use the Early Bird exception for up to the MLE, and I seriously doubt anyone will offer anything close to the MLE for Chuck (he is a RFA, so we can match all offers up to the MLE). Using the Early Bird exception doesn't cut into our use of the MLE, which was used on SF3 and Scola.

Rockets don't need to use the MLE or LLE to re-sign Hayes.

i dont think chuck will command a whole lot of money on the FA market because he really has no offensive skills whatsoever and very undersized. he found a role here in houston and i think any fair contract Morey offers he will probably resign. I mean there was a reason why he went undrafted in a poor draft class

He shouldn't be resigned anyway he's not a good player. He's a notch above Ryan Bowen.

We can resign him. We have his bird rights. But you know, if they package some of these guards for a guy like Jeff Foster, I'm not sure they will resign him. They won't want to get into luxury tax territory for Chuck Hayes. They need to resign Mutumbo too.

I think chuck hayes will accept any amount of money from the rockets.. even though he cannot shoot the ball we still need his hustle under the basket..

No just because you are over the cap does not mean you pay the tax. The tax limit is set at 65mil or there abouts. Morey will sign him for sure then cut cap by trading off Alston and some others.

How much is his chinese shoe deal getting him anyway? That could be another factor since he loses that deal if he leaves the Rockets.

Actually the shoe thing was only a one year deal... so he will have to renegotiate it.

of course he gets signed, just because we signed francis doesnt mean we dont need more power forwards than just scola who hasnt even proved anything in the NBA. Hayes is definitely goin to be resigned.

They'll sign him unless somebody comes with a crazy deal for him.

To Morey, players like Chuck-- productive and signed at a reasonable rate, are assets. He's not going to give away an asset for free.

Now that is harsh. Chuck is a much better player than Bowen could dream of ever being.

maybe, chuck is a little more than that. But is there space on the roster for him considering the other undersized 4 option we have in Harris?
