Great news...but couldn't the mayor at least get the name of the team right? It's Houston Dynamo...not Dynamos.

Could anyone else imagine a possible weekend in October where the Astros & Dynamo have home playoff games, Texans have a home game, and the Rockets have a preseason game? I know it's unlikely, but that would be a fun weekend in Houston.

Looks like they're taking my parking spot for Astros games.

There will be a new parking garage for Astros season ticket holders like the Toyota garage for Rockets season ticket holders.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Dynamo fan and absolutely support a new stadium, but parking for an Astros game > parking for a Dynamo game. Baseball > Soccer by a wiiiiide margin.

It's too bad they couldn't put it at the old Six Flags spot. I drove by thereyesterday. That would be the ideal location if you ask me. (I realize someone owns that prime property and wont let it go.)

i heard it was way too expensive as far as property tax and whatnot, but then again im pretty sure downtown it at least, if not more expensive in that aspect.

Here's another article about it. There are a couple of council members that support it and want to plan more development for the area around it.

You won't know this until you see both. Right now, the comparison isn't fair because of the Dynamo's share of Roberson Stadium. Just you wait. There has only been ONE soccer game at Minute Maid (Club América played there last year) ever, but I don't know if you're talking in general or just the Dynamo.

Just give it a little time, man. If you want to compare Baseball vs. Soccer, look at how many championships the Dynamo has brought Houston.

I hope they don't have to pay $20M for that land. Hopefully that is just realtor talk…trying to up the price….

I think you misunderstood me. I meant that parking for an Astros game is always better than for a Dynamo game 'cause baseball > soccer.
And you gotta remember, I love soccer. I love the Dynamo. But compared to baseball? No contest.
And I park at Robertson Stadium EVERY DAY. I have no issue parking there.

Aren't they going to be building parking garages nearby soon anyway? For the new mixed use area, with the House of Blues and Yao's and whatnot? Houston's got more than enough parking lots, if you ask me... but then I take the train to Main Street and walk to Astros games. And in a couple years... Dynamo games! Should be even easier after they expand the line.

WTF  ? Parking is better because the sport is better? I don't see how they relate. Anyway, comparing the sports is for another thread and your opinion only. Dynamo** >> Astros (and that's my opinion).
