Just do the cap math. Assuming the cap is at $89 million, Durant's max is $26.7. When you add up Dwight, Harden, Beverley and all those young guys, it leaves you with just enough room to get Durant. Now you could prefer to keep one of Brewer or Ariza over Beverley, and that's probably workable, but at least 2 of those 3 have to go. I picked Ariza and Brewer because I don't know if Ariza will be a happy camper coming off the bench and KJ gives you most of what Brewer does with better defense.
Yup, exactly. You would also have early bird rights to Josh Smith if he signed with the Rockets this season. Plus 2016 1st rounder & NYK 2016 2nd rounder. And maybe Marcus Thornton if he pans out. And you don't have TJones in that lineup so I would assume he gets flipped for an asset.
Not that simple. Dwight will have a giant cap hold. We will probably want to re-sign him BEFORE we sign Durant.
I don't think they will either. It is a long shot, but Morey will do what he has to, to put himself in a position to be able to make the move, if it materializes. Getting KD out of OKC...that will mean that that team under performed and perhaps KD finds out that over time him and RW aren't a good mix. A lot of negative stuff has to happen on the OKC side to grease the wheels. I could see those things happening, especially with how RW's game grew at the end of last season. But, it is still a long shot for all of those things to line up and fall into place.
Just need a bench. Other than capela who on the bench has proven themselves to get at least a bit of playing time? I know the veterabns and championship chasers will flock to houston so tht's good but we still need a reliable backup guard and forward. The last thing we wanna do is run that team into exhaustion in the regular season.
Trade Dwight and Sign Dmo long term...younger and better fit for the team in the long term, plus will get cap space for KD.
25 - Dwight (estimated) 16.7 - Harden 6 - Beverley 3.3 - DMo (QO) 2.5 - McDaniels (estimated) 1.7 - Dekker 1.3 - Capela 1 - Johnson 1 - Montrezl 1.6 - 3 cap holds That's 60.1. With Durant's 26.7 max, that gets you to 86.8....only a couple of million below the 89 projected cap, and I think I may be underestimating a few of the numbers above. For example, Dwights max is actually around $31 million...will he take that much less?

Right? I mean Dmo is such an awesome rebounder and amazing rim protector. Some of you really, really over value Dmo. Seriously.
You were wrong. That tweet further proves you were wrong. You claimed Nuggets would have traded Lawson for one decent asset. A 1st round pick + a young player is more than just one decent asset. JJ Berea equals one decent asset. Sam Dalembert equals one decent asset. A 1st round pick plus a young player is considered very good return in most trades.
I was fine with standing pat as long as we kept the whole crew in tact, signed a couple of decent vet mins and made decent use of our MLE. I'm not cool with standing pat, letting Smith walk for nothing, and blowing our MLE on KJ. Are we really going to walk into next season, with a PG rotation of injury prone Beverley starting again, being backed up by scrub Johnson? And a PF rotation of back surgery Dmo, and inconsistent Jones? It's totally ****ed, we need an upgrade at both the point and power forward now. Loosing Smith made not only a whole at the PF spot, but it makes it harder to trade for a PG since Jones will have to be a key rotation player unless we can utilize our MLE to sign one. If we can get Lawson, do it. Papa, Jones, Prigs + Dekker and a future pick for Lawson, then try to sign Boozer (maybe Arthur) will our MLE. PG: Lawson / Beverley SG: Harden / Thornton / Johnson SF: Ariza / Brewer PF: Motie / Boozer C : Howard / Capela / Hayes I know Lawson and Boozer suck on defense, but they will definitely help on offense and fill needs like passing, rebounding and post scoring. It's much better then doing nothing, blowing another year of Harden and Howard with our dick in our hands waiting for next off season so Durant can sign with OKC or the Wizards.
