http://theclassical.org/articles/the-ricky-rubio-experience?src=longreads&utm_source=buffer&buffer_share=c0cac In anticipation for his return (he was recently cleared for full-contact practice), a great article on Rubio from a guy who played against him back in the day.
Great read. Love to hear articulate accounts of actual ball players about what it's like to play against some of these guys.
Yea - the way he described Rubio's decision-making in PnR was illuminating especially. Loved how the piece showed how coaches can stifle their players by putting them on a short leash. Utilizing a player's specific skill set and maximizing production from it should be the goal but some coaches let their ego get the best of them, opting to pidgeon-hole players into ill-fitting roles within the coach's system.
