The big match up this week is last years BCS National Championship game rematch in Baton Rouge between LSU and Bama. Should be a good game with two great defenses. Kansas St. has a high powered Ok. St offense but I don't expect them to struggle with this game. Texas A&M and Miss. St. could be another good one. And finally there's Oregon and USC which I don't know what to expect. It's all on which USC team shows up. Good week though.

Notable Games:

Thursday, November 1, 2012
Virginia Tech @ Miami(FL) - 6:30 PM CST - ESPN

Friday, November 2, 2012
Washington @ Cal - 8 PM CST - ESPN2

Saturday, November 3, 2012
Missouri @ #7 Florida - 11 AM CST - ESPN2
Temple @ #10 Louisville - 11 AM CST - ABC
#12 Oklahoma @ Iowa St. - 11 AM CST - ABC
#16 Texas A&M @ #15 Mississippi St. - 11 AM CST - ESPN
Michigan @ Minnesota - 11 AM CST - Big Ten Network
#14 Stanford @ Colorado - 1 PM CST - FX
TCU @ #21 West Virginia - 2 PM CST - FOX
Pittsburgh @ #3 Notre Dame - 2:30 PM CST - NBC
Ole Miss @ #6 Georgia - 2:30 PM CST - CBS
#20 Nebraska @ Michigan St. - 2:30 PM CST - ABC/ESPN2

What's the excuse for the 11am TAMU/MSSt start time this week?

Obviously it's Texas' fault.

That or they just didn't want another SEC game going up against the exciting 6-3 affair we'll see Saturday night.

I used to think Alabama at LSU was the game of the year and nothing else mattered. Now it appears to be just another mismatch on an awesome title run for Saban. LSU needs Mettenberger to play the game of his life.

Oregon might be down two starting linebackers against USC but that should only affect the margin of victory, not the outcome.

If there's one thing I know about the Pac 10/12 it's that anybody can win. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Oregon lost. I've seen better Pac 10/12 teams that Oregon lose to lesser Pac 10/12 teams that USC in the past. It happens almost every year like clockwork in that pretty boy conference.

After what happened last year, doubtful. I'm also guessing you haven't watched much of Oregon and USC this year.

If Matt Barkley was on a roll like last year, there would be an argument.

Again, I've seen much crazier happen in that conference - year in and year out.

Didn't want to start a new thread, so just dropping it in here:
http://espn.go.com/colleges/michigan...oment-freshman

Freshman LB dad passed away due to stroke a couple days before, one of his teammates steps out of bounds at the 1 after a 50+ yard run, sets him up for the TD to honor his father.

I wish Coach BOOM was still at Texas (as head ball coach, of course)...

his '08 defense anchored by Orakpo, Kindle, and Earl T. led the country w/ 47 sacks & 65 pass deflections. Not to mention, only surrendered 74 yds/games on the ground (#2 nationally).

Diaz and his unit are an embarrassment to the program.

He was great but I imagine Texas would still suck with him there. They're simply at the wrong end of the inevitable rise & fall cycle.

Here's the reality: this embarrassment of a LB corp you see out there are all MUSCHAMP'S recruits. It's not fair to put all the blame on Diaz.

Whoa... so Muschamp was supposed to do the hard selling on the defensive recruits? If that's true, which it very may well be, and someone else handles the offense - what the hell does Mack Brown do? Give the go-ahead on listening to iTunes during stretches?

He lured All-American LB talent to Austin, but Diaz has done a piss-poor job of coaching and developing that talent.

BOOM groomed a handful of future NFL'ers during his stint at Texas -- Brian Orakpo, Lamarr Houston, Sergio Kindle, Earl Thomas, Aaron Williams, Curtis Brown, Chykie Brown, the Acho brothers, Keenan Robinson, among others.

This. I think the talent on the defense is there. The development has been piss-poor, can't even tackle correctly. That's fundamentals. It would most certainly make a difference is Muschamp was here right now. I really think this would be one of the best defenses in the country if the play calling and fundamentals were there. That's all on coaching.

Which has been the staple of the Mack Brown era. Get the best talent in the country and hope to G-d they already know how to play because they sure as hell aren't going to get proper coaching.
