I think that all serious topics should be moved to the D & D with that forum's 'rules' tweaked a bit.

Right now this is an acceptable thread in the hang out (Nanny murders 2 children) IMHO the hang out should be only for light fun topics. Murders and other disturbing topics should be moved to the D & D which would be called the
D&D/ Serious topic forum or something along those lines.

What do you think?

I know that's depressing (very, very depressing), but I think that would be tough to draw a line on. Threads on natural disasters, incidents, etc... I don't know if those should just go in the D&D.

How about if there was a way to attach an emoticon to a particular thread, to summarize the thread's mood?

So if its a sad/depressing that, you can attach a symbol. And so on and so forth for other moods.

That might make it a little easier to skip over the sad threads and find the funny/entertaining ones.

why do you need a mood emoticon in threads like:

"nanny murders 2 children"
"big earthquake destroys [enter name of a city]"
"my [relative] is very bad, need some prayers"

its like saying people should put a NSFW warning in the thread title to threads like: best rack, hottest girl, any title with the name of a model, etc.

If the emoticon was its own column and it was sortable, that could be useful. Maybe.

D&D is for discussion, I don't see how "Nanny kills two children" would turn into two sides making arguments agaisnt eachother. It's not like we agree with the Nanny or the good cause of murders or natural disasters.

I don't think it's a good idea, KC. Good grief, D&D has enough "serious" discussion as it is. Now, if Clutch wanted to create yet another forum, something like "Murders, Disease, Disasters, and Other Horrible Stuff" to sort of give a home to awful and depressing subjects, it's an option, of course, but my opinion is that we don't need that kind of forum. After all, except for what us Monkeys chatter about in D&D, Hangout is for hanging out and talking about pretty much everything under the sun unrelated to sports, right? Sports unrelated to computer games, of course. And when a member brings up something affecting them personally, something that might fall under that hypothetical forum's purview, I'd hate to see that segregated to "the depressing forum." Just skim past the things that bug you. I try real hard to do that now, although I'm not always successful. I'm a news junkie, and I've usually seen the stories in the news before they're posted here.

Yeah, that would be why the rules would be tweaked -- Frankenstorm is fine for the Hangout, but disturbing topics would be moved to the new D & D/ Serious topics forum. This would keep the hang out fun and light even with prayer and natural disaster threads.

At another forum I used to go to, there was a section called The Flaming Pit. It's where you would go to call out other posters or just anything that you currently have a hatred for. It was always a great time.

the D&D is the cesspool. If you want any sort of meaningful unregulated discussion you send something down there. I'm not sure we have the right to designate such a horrible fate for a thread. Even if the thread itself is so morbid.
