It's probably been suggested before but I think it would be a great idea for a server or section where maybe only contributing members first and later everybody can else can have access to old games. I have a good 20-30 games that I would gladly share, a few of which are considered rare in the trading games business and paid big bucks to acquire. Over time however I will gladly share those as well and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

How to go about this is of course up to Clutch or other admins. My connection is not that fast so setting up my own server is not smart. However, there might be guys on here who do in which case I can just upload it to sendspace or wherever and they can put it on their server and share it on here. Would this be a good idea and if so, are there people willing to help with sharing games and maybe set up their own server. Maybe something like that rocketredrockers.net with old games?

They will be full DVDs so around 3 to 4.3 GB per game, I don't have time to convert them and also I think fans would want games in the best quality possible. Some games however are VHS master so 2 to 3 DVDs (around 8 Gig). A server would have to be able to hold quite some size and maybe sharing 2-3 games max at a given time. We can always re-up.

Hope people will chime in and share their thoughts, have ideas or also have games they will happily share. Please let us know

Would something like this be possible?

uuuh, yeah

You dont have any idea the amount of bandwidth that would take.

When I first started recording and releasing games, we didnt do the torrent thing we put them on heypartner's server and let people download them directly.......that ran into TERABYTES of bandwidth real quick.

Im gonna say, I highly doubt Clutch would consider doing that...even if he was willing to pony up for the bandwidth....it would probably wreck his relationship with the Rockets since offering up clutchfans-sanctioned full game downloads *is* illegal without the Rockets/NBA permission.

and yes, I have every game I released archived on dvds.

For all the flack Comcast has gotten over the years, at least I always got the Rockets games...since I have switched to Direct, Im not even sure I will be able to watch them myself this year.

IF I actually get the games, I *might* do a few, but Clutch has been doing alot of them last couple of years and he is much quicker about getting them out than I am...and between that and all the streaming sites there isnt really much need for my video work anymore.

Wow, easy man, I was just suggesting something positive and you could probably tell from my post that I didn't have an clue about the technicalities

There's no way there can be several servers where first contributing members could download (one game at a time) them and later maybe for the public? I'm not saying Clutch should pay, maybe suggest it first and see who's willing to pay and how much we could gather to see if it would be something to consider.

The illegal thing I understand, but how did that work with your downloads through rocketredrockers.net? Was there any action taken against it or you made your own choice to stop upping games which I totally understand btw.

You wanted to get that out of the way just in case someone might ask about it?

Ok, then let's start over again. I am going to ignore the rest of your response to Rockets2K, because (as you say) you don't know what you are talking about and did not represent facts at all.

Let's start there.
Then next stop.
Tell us why you don't know what you are talking out.

It is not that hard.

As for any other regulars here...stay out of this...unless you have a server that got named, too.

Seriously trying to put a man down for trying to suggest something like this because I don't know the technicalities of servers and what not. Nice going there pal! I bet if I would suggest this in the main Rockets thread, plenty of people would be up for it so why even kill an idea in the early stage like this? Just sad

No I'm saying GTFO, don't need none of that negativity here and just because you are a contributing member doesn't give you an excuse for being an ass.

This isn't negativity. I'm just saying don't ask for illegal activity here. Illegal activity is your words, not mine

You brought up suggesting illegal activity in this thread and elsewhere today (i can post more). Now I see you are just a kid or enthusiastic foreigner.

But understand what you are asking for in an environment of major cable companies fighting over rights to Rockets games, and increased security over everything that they think they own. Get it

Chill.

This isn't about me being a contributing member, this is about my server being mentioned in this thread, and me stating that that had nothing to do with Clutch and Clutch never ever advocates that. What I did (help China see Yao Ming) was way before any law. But now it isn't.

I would like to reiterate that anyone who feels compelled to chime in on this thread who doesn't have a server mentioned, please don't. (not counting my hero Rockets2K, of course). In exchange, I will promise to not respond to this thread again, or any links to it. Send all legal notices to me.

(Come get me Comcast, brah)
