Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks. In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family. Author Robert Keith Gray writes in “Presidential Perks Gone Royal” that Obama isn’t the only president to have taken advantage of the expensive trappings of his office. But the amount of money spent on the first family, he argues, has risen tremendously under the Obama administration and needs to be reined in, Gray told The Daily Caller that the $1.4 billion spent on the Obama family last year is the “total cost of the presidency,” factoring the cost of the “biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever,” a 50 percent increase in the numbers of appointed czars and an Air Force One “running with the frequency of a scheduled air line.”

Here's a review I read regarding the book:

Despite the author's claim to be non-partisan, the ideological bias comes through quite clearly. The most egregious fault is the lack of any footnotes or endnotes. While the author assures us that the book is "well-researched" the sloppiness of the research and analysis is illustrated by one point. The author suggests that the Obamas' dog-handler is paid $102,000 per year. This was reported in one New England newspaper and refuted by Snopes.com the very next day. All Presidents and Presidential candidates have an aide known as the "body man". President Obama's aide occasionally walks the dog as one small part of his responsibilities. This is not at all the impression given by the book. The most outrageous claim is the $1.4 billion cost to support the President's family. This is neither sourced nor substantiated. I would call it "wretched scholarship" but it doesn't really count as scholarship.

So no footnotes, end notes, or sources are in the book. And then this biased website sources it as if it were factual. Sounds like something gwayneco would post.
