So for the past couple days/weeks I spent time to make a mix of one of my favorite players. I just wanted to share and get some criticism/advice and whatnot.

I remember someone said that Dwight was better than Hakeem. I thought they were being sarcastic at first, but then I found out they were dead serious. They also said that the centers back then in the 80s and 90s were no where close to the centers today, that the centers in the NBA today are much stronger and more athletic with more skills. They even went to the extent saying Andrew Bynum would dominate all the centers in the 90s. I really wanted to make a fool out of him but I realized that an ignorant person will always be ignorant no matter what you do so I left it alone...

Oh God that's a pretty damn ridiculous statement. The Centers from any part of the 90s would crush the weak centers of this era. Hakeem's post game was awesome and something Dwight couldn't imitate, and Hakeem's defense might even be superior. Hell, I'd take Ewing, Robinson, or even Mourning over Dwight.

Most educated NBA fans know that the centers in the 80s-90s would **** on the centers today. Dwight Howard is not even as good as David Robinson. He is around the same level as Ewing and Mourning maybe slightly better at best. Hakeem, Shaq, DRob were flat out better than Dwight. Hakeem and Shaq would take a massive dump on Dwight. Bynum wouldn't even be a top 5 center in the 80s-90s.

What? Hakeem is one of the best defensive players of all time, his defense is much better than Dwight's will ever be.

Yeah it is superior. I feel that it could be argued because of the 3 DPOY's, but considering Dwight's the only decent center nowadays, I doubt they hold as much weight as Wallace's DPOYs, or even Hakeem's one.

You should post this in the GARM.

^^ You're on a Rockets forum what do you expect? People worshipping Kevin Martin and making Omer Asik highlight vids?

Yeah I know, it just gets old and it's very very sad

This thread especially... No one even said anything bad about "the one and only", MambaJoe just said that he remembers someone saying something about someone being better than someone else and of course every poster has to comment how ridiculous that is. Watching these reactions throughout several threads, I'm getting the feeling that it's all some sort of a defense mechanism, that some of you feel so insecure about the Rockets that you feel you to have defend the GOAT at every occasion even though no one ever actually denies his greatness.

Think about it.

well then argue your point. the hakeem as the best center argument is certainly not a baseless argument. how would you argue against it?

Next time this comes up ask your friend why Dwight Howard was trying to learn from Hakeem if Howard is so "strong and athletic + more skills".

Outside of Dwight Howard and Bynum where are the other centers that can play on both ends of the floor? Marcin Gortat? If I'm having that hard of a time thinking of centers during this current era to fill in the blanks I can honestly say that your friend is greatly mistaken and knows very little about the centers that dominated the 80s/90s. You have Alonzo/Shaq/Moses/Hakeem/Sampson/Kareem/Shaq/Robinson/Ewing and that's just off the top of my head. AND I didn't even follow basketball before Yao was drafted back in what 03? Oh boy

Nice video clips, but music (esp. the metal) was hard to take.

But yeah, Hakeem-related threads are always in the GARM

dwight can get boards and blocks. hakeem could get boards, blocks, defend guards, effectively stop the pick and roll, and he is number 7 all time in steals

Don't forget all time blocks leader. He is a much better shot blocker than Dwight imo.
