It went from Bush being the obvious better player from the draft through his rookie year, to Mario being the clear better player from then on but now Bush has come on and is certainly very much close to the player people thought he would be.

I wonder what path their careers will take in the next five years.

It IS clear cut who the Texans should have drafted and that's all that matters. I don't give a care what either player is doing now.

The Saints won a superbowl. (little to do with Bush) ..The Texans are superbowl contenders (nothing to do with mario ) . Both were supposed to be hall of famers neither one will even be nominated.

Cutler was the right pick but nobody was wanting that.......

No he didn't. That was KYLE Williams. MARIO Williams had two tackles.

Bush was a huge part of that Saints superbowl team. He led the team in receptions and had 8-9 touchdowns, I believe. How can you say anything about hall of fame? This is really only the 2nd year Reggie Bush has been used as a feature back and he's looking like a top 5 back in the league or better. He's in his prime right now.

Well, if he continues to have 1000 yard rushing seasons for the next 5 years he'll end up with a pretty badass career. I pointed out how productive he has been in the VY thread and got roasted for it. Seems like people around here don't like to admit Reggie Bush is a good football player. See my post from the VY thread:

Quote:

Bush has scored 40 touchdowns in his 6 year career. That's pretty damn productive. Granted he hasn't been a good running back, but his first year as a full time starter carrying the load in Miami he had a 1000 yard rushing season. Last year he rushed for 1086 yards. The Saints used him in a different way, but you can't ignore 40 touchdowns in 6 years. You can't call that a bust bro.

What has Mario done that was so special, other than getting a huge contract? 53 career sacks is solid and that 14 sack season was impressive, but I wouldn't say he's been more productive than a 40 touchdown guy who was a big part of a super bowl championship team. I don't see where what I said was such a joke? Can you elaborate?

Only took him 6 years and 2 teams to become an above average back.

It makes me wonder how he would have been if he had played for a team using him as a featured RB instead of how NO used him. Might have had a great career elsewhere.

By "led the team" you mean 4th with 47 catches, right?

Salary cap not being a factor, every single NFL GM would take Williams of Bush right now.

No kidding. People seem to be letting 2 weeks erase 6 years of subpar performances. He looks like he's going to have a good year being Miami's prime weapon, but there's a lot of football left. Mario might very well have the worst year of his career up in Buffalo, but his bank account could care less at this point.

Reggie Bush was very good last season.

not being forced into that role most likely prolonged his career and enabled the opportunity for him to mature as a back.

that's not a luxury afforded to most RBs in the league.

It's weird. Mario had a great start last year and nobody was sitting on his lap feeding him grapes. Oh well.
