Just curious
He had a good career.
I thought about him because folx were saying trendon holiday is so small.

Too small to play some running back.

Rocket River.

Not even close IMO.

Only 5/12 seasons did he even top 1000 yds rushing, which really isn't that difficult for the elite RBs. Nice reception numbers but was never a big TD guy either.

You can't say that he was ever even in the elite among players or RBs in the NFL. His best year he was 8th in rushing.

I don't think he is even close. He was a good running back, but nothing really special.

There were so many talented running backs in his day from the 2-4 year AMAZING years (Priest Holmes/Larry Johnson types) to the career beasts (LT/ Curtis Martin types). Not sure if it was a great running back era when he played, but he didn't stand out at all.

Tough call but probably not. Also, bad comparison to bring Holliday into the conversation since Dunn has 4" on the 5'5" midget. 5'9" guys like Dunn make it in the NFL all the time.

Although he probably wont make it...some of you that are giving it a zero chance are a little off your rockers.

Dunn is 19th on the all time rushing list, ahead of guys like Tiki Barber, Eddie George, Clinton Portis, Earl Campbell, Roger Craig, etc... Yes, I understand some players had shorter careers, but longevity is a key part of football.

Dunn is also 19th on the list of all purpose yards, ahead of guys like Edgerrin James, Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, Franco Harris, OJ Simpson, and a crap load of other HOFers.

Sure, chances are that he wont make it, but to outright say "hell no" is silly.

This is what I thought. He had decent stats and longevity.

Those guys definitely are not HOFs either. Warrick Dunn was a good productive player for a long time, that doesn't make him a HOFer. Those other guys played in a different era. He was never great.

Edit: Should have been in football forum

If Dunn had 1000 more yards rushing in his career with 10 more TDs, he'd be in the Hall of Fame...if that little is separating you from being in the Hall, then you've had quite an exceptional career. And when you are that close, I still say its silly to immediately disregard his eligibility, even if there are lots of reasons why he shouldnt be in the HOF.

Is Fred Taylor a HOF running back?

Nobody will remember Warrick Dunn in 20 years. He's James Brooks, Rodney Hampton, etc.

He had a nice career. HOF-worthy? Don't think so.

On a random note, my AP World History teacher was one of his teachers in HS.

His defining stat is that he was able to remain a starter for 12 years. He ranks somewhat high on those lists because he ranks 17th in rushing attempts and 14th in touches.

He made a couple of pro bowls but was never really considered to be among the cream of the crop at his position. His best year rushing was in 2005 when he has 1,400+ yards rushing. 7 other running backs had more rushing yards than him that year. 9 had more rushing yards per game. And that was the only time he ever ranked in the top 10 in rushing.

Longevity does belong in the discussion when discussing some players. But if you were never considered a great player or a top player while you were playing, you shouldn't be a hall of famer.

Completely agree...Im just feeling inclined to defend him a bit since some people here are acting like we are talking about Gary Brown or Lorenzo White.

1000 yard seasons are more the case of did he get lucky and not get hurt.....I mean 65 yards a game gets you there for goodness sake. I once read somewhere an NFL rb takes the abuse of a few car wrecks per game and that's why it's impossible for any of them to have long productive careers like Emmitt or Curtis Martin.....with that said Warrick Dunn was a beast, but hall of gamer he was not and thats not even a question, he was a career top 15 RB during the era he played, I don't see anyway this is even a question....it's like saying is Michael Finley a hall of famer, he was a stud no doubt, great numbers till the final years of a his career, but he was just above average in the scope of things.
