I don't think it's that hard for him to get 10boards/game with Lopez as your starting C. Let's see if he can duplicate his numbers with Wallace.

I guess the new CBA didn't really fix the system like they said it would.
There are less than 10 players putting up double doubles for the year. Everyone else scores more, but they're also making 15 million or more a year. The only exception is gortat, who's a HUGE bargain. Otherwise, KH is right below guys like chandler and noah, who are also not scorers, but better defenders. Seems about right to me, maybe a million too much, but he's needed in brooklyn.

Anytime you can spend $57M on Kris Humphries, Brook Lopez, Gerald Wallace and Joe Johnson you have to do it.

And those are better than Hibbert's numbers. And Hibbert got the max. Talented big men are almost always overpaid.

Looking for a reason why Kris Humphries is getting $12 million a year? Just look at the cap math from the Brooklyn Nets’ perspective... and then turn your gaze toward Florida.

If they’re thinking about trading for Dwight Howard after Jan. 15, when Brook Lopez is trade eligible – and most certainly, they are – then signing Humphries to a short contract of this size makes all kinds of sense.

The reason is that it allows the Nets to take back much bigger contracts from Orlando in a trade. Paying Humphries $12 million means that the combination of Humphries, Tyshawn Taylor and Reggie Evans can be used to take back $18.6 million in contracts from Orlando – which conveniently, is exactly enough to swallow the contracts of Orlando veterans Glen Davis, Jason Richardson, Chris Duhon and Quentin Richardson and clean the Magic’s books going forward.

Do that, and then put Lopez and MarShon Brooks in a deal for Howard (again, just clearing enough salary from the New Jersey end to take back his salary from Orlando), throw in all the same draft picks New Jersey would give in the original deal, and the trade still works. In fact, it works better, since the Nets can swallow a bit more salary in this one than in the deal mooted over the summer.

As for the fine print, Brooks almost certainly would be routed to a third team for another draft pick for Orlando, but the trade would be cap-legal regardless. Routing Humphries to a third team would prove more problematic, but again it would be cap-legal if it happened as long as all the goodies went back to the Magic. After all this, the Magic would have a signed frontcourt of Humphries and Lopez and, if they cut Hedo Turkoglu, have max cap space in 2013.

Are there hang-ups to this strategy? Of course. First and most obviously, Howard may not be with the Magic in January. Second, even if he is, much depends on how well Lopez plays at the start of the season – the Magic are unlikely to be tempted unless he’s racking up 20-and-10s. And unless he wants to end up on bad team, it’s not clear to me how much incentive he has to play well.

But it’s worth a shot, and Brooklyn has shown that the money is a secondary concern. They’d have a $90 million payroll after doing a deal like the one above, but they’d be a marketing powerhouse in their first year in Brooklyn – an investment that would likely pay itself back several times over. In the context of that, overpaying Humphries a few million seems like chump change.

He isn't right below Tyson Chandler. Tyson Chandler while very limited offensively, is at least very efficient. Humphries isn't. Tyson Chandler is reigning DPOY, Humphries is not.

Humpries is a rebounder. Nothing else. Fits in well with that team (though would be nice if he was a better defender). Having him and Wallace will really help with Lopez's lack of rebounding.

Duhon is partially non-guaranteed next year, they wouldn't move him for guaranteed salary. QRich only has his player option left for $2.8M. I know its doubtful he opts out, but there is always a chance, and it isn't going to save money to ship him out for Humphries.

Technically overpaid, sure. But there's a premium market value for big men in reality.

For his all NBA defense. I don't think that the Rockets value points and rebounds from the 5 highly. Rim protection and being able to defend the pick and roll are much more highly regarded.

Good for him.

I kind of like the Nets Roster. This is the best team Deron Williams has had since the Jazz team that used and abused us 2x in the playoffs.

Williams
Johnson
Wallace
Hump
Lopez

That's a very good starting lineup. Even though Lopez isn't a good rebounder he's still a 7 footer that takes up space and he can score in the post. Hump and Wallace can definitely cover for Lopez's shortcomings in that area. Williams should also be racking up the assists moreso than ever with so many scoring options surrounding him. Bring Marshon Brooks off the bench for instant offense ala Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry mold. I wouldn't be surprised if the Nets finish 2nd behind the Heat.

Yes, Karl could, if he played on the Nets. The hornets should be a playoff team in the east.
However Karl will lose on a ugly meter contest to hump without a doubt.
