Chapman is still having control issues, but he is clearly hard to hit. Not a lot of data on Toney, but any time an 19 year old hits like that in pro ball it gets your attention.
We got two young prospects with legit upside for a fringe pro and a backup catcher who probably were gonna get cut anyhow.
Smart organization picking on a bad organization, Feels good to be back on the right side of that.

Darn, I thought Dayton Moore was going to have a mental lapse and end would end up making Cheslor Cuthbert the PTBNL.

Must spread rep.
I'm putting you on my "must read" list along with Bima.

He's quality. Needs to write for the Chronicle.

Haha, Q is hilarious. I kind of miss him, he did some funny stuff on the field too. Castro will be the better ballplayer though.

Castro already is.
Q was such a terrible hitter. I read a profile for one player that compared the guy to Quintero with less of a bat.

Any idea on if we can chip in something for him to have "contributing member" status? He really has been a joy to read during the whole draft and beyond.

the Royals DFA'ed Q today and recalled Bourgeois.

As crappy as Snyder's batting stats have been, he handles the staff pretty well. Otherwise I'd say taker a flier on Q if he ultimately gets waived.

Shame, I liked Q. I'm surprised he took outright release over AAA.
That trade was an absolute win at the time but has lost a lot of luster this year. It looks like D'Andre Toney, the big part of the trade per Luhnow, had grossly inflated stats in the Arizona league last year. Arizona is the rookie league equivalent to the California league, only more inflated.
Last year in AZL rookie league, he hit: .340/.432/.587 with .247 isolated slugging (ISO)
This year in Appy rookie league: he's hitting: .264/.361/.319 with 0.056 ISO
In short, he came back to earth with a shocking drop in power.

Premature? Sure. But that drop in ISO is staggering.

Counting stats are nice for all-star and HOF votes, but I think they're a crappy individual measure of a player.
