They're underpaying you if you are a summer analyst then. I got offered more than that this year but that was in NY. Most people get prorated salaries of 70K (I've even seen 75K) but yours is only prorated at 57k for some reason. Either way I decided to turn down the IB route as slaving away for 2 years was not worth the money to me. I decided to go the big oil route and am making 6200 a month as an intern in Houston which comes out to about 38.75 an hour. Not to mention I got a housing bonus of 1500 too that I got to pocket since I am from Houston. This is only working 40 hour weeks also and not having to pay NY lifestyle. Taxes are lower here, middle class in Houston is 50k whereas middle class in NY is 126K. The best IB guys will only make 130K, and that was before 2007. Whereas working in oil in Houston you can make 70-80K of stress free work and be well over middle class.

Get out while you can because you'll recognize that IB is a scam in how if you calculate your hourly rate it is pretty crappy at about $20 an hour (I am including an average bonus too).

And if you are really smart you should switch to engineering and get a degree that will pave the way for you to be an executive because then you can always get an MBA and have an engineering and finance background. My friend is making well over 100K his first year out of college as a petroleum engineer. Biggest regret of my life was not doing engineering...

not sure what you're trying to prove, each career path has different pros/cons.... $30/hr is for 8 hr workday, any more than that is overtime which is $45/hr and considering 100 hr weeks it's more than enough. doing ib has good exit opps, it's not like you're a slave for 2 years and then you have nowhere to go. and location is subjective, many prefer houston over nyc but many also prefer the reverse and do not mind paying extra for the lifestyle. if you enjoy working in oil then great, for those interested in other careers thats cool too

After spraining my ankle so bad that it has bone fragments in the joint last month, so would I.

But demolition is fun...imagine if you were a kid and someone told you, 'Here's a hammer, go destroy that shed...'

You'd do it in a heart beat!

Yet we pay grown men $1000 a week, and some cry on the job site, Because it's to hard.
Some go to lunch...then don't return! And some just have no idea.

And we wonder why Western countries are looking to immigrants to do (as we say in Australia) the jobs that no one else will do.

If you don't mind me asking what company do you work for and what exactly do you do?
