There's at least 15 guys around the league you could have plugged in for Cushing last year and we still probably would have had the same record. With Joseph... I'd say there are only about 6.

Its best player, not most valuable player
Most valuable would be Schaub and Joseph, really no debate
But best football players, I'd say Foster and Cushing

So how do you define "best" then? Best amongst his peers?

I'll go with Arian Foster as their best offensive player, because he is so versatile that he can run and catch the ball like a WR.
Then I'll go with Johnathan Joseph as their best defensive player, because he covers the best WR on the opposing team which allows the pass rushers to extra time to do their thing.

Arian Foster is on the cusp of becoming legend. I only wish he played all 16 games & he WOULD have either led the league in rushing for a 2nd consecutive year or would have been in 2nd place after MJD ... (imagine if we were talking about whether Foster could 3-peat as the rushing champ? - only Earl Campbell & Emmitt Smith won 3 in a row the last 40 years)
I find it mildly surprising so many here give Foster the nod, but he brings too much to the table

So nobody is concerned our run game will take a hit after losing the right side of our o-line?

Well playing together for years certainly helped but my only concern is quality depth.
Winston is overrated and would be a above average guard but to me just a middle of the road tackle getting paid pro bowl money. I am confident in Butler to be just as good or better.
Brisel was good but he is just a guy and we should find someone who can do that job.

Most Important: Schaub and Joseph
Best: AJ when healthy, otherwise Foster and Cushing.

O - Best = Andre Johnson. When healthy, he's in the top 2 in the league. Sorry Larry, you aren't strong enough.
D - Best = Jonathan Joseph. Outside of Revis, the 2nd best CB in the AFC last year.
It's nice that there are legitimate arguments on both sides of the ball.
Honorabale metions on O - Foster, Myers, Brown, Schaub, Tate.
Honorable mentions on D - Barwin, Manning, Watt, Cushing, Smith.
Wade Phillips probably deserves as much credit as anyone for last year's success. But, that belongs in another thread.

Jacoby Jones is a pretty good defender for the opposing team.
