Owning the league since 1989. How fitting would it be if Danny steals CP3 from the Clippers? jinxjinxjinxjinxjinxjinxjinxjinxjinx
He shed two ridiculous contracts from ATL...Joe Johnson...and Marvin Williams... ATL is going to tank this season...and then...have a ton of cap space in 2013 FA...
Ferry did a great job in a short few days. Contrast that with Hennigan taking his time in Orlando. Hennigan may very well come out as good as can be expected. But Ferry...brilliant, getting out from under the worst contract in the NBA and turning around and dumping another underperforming contract for an expiring. Plenty of options in ATL now.
Man I wish morey would get rid of our doo doo.. But his talks "fall apart last minute".. And then we go after RFA and wait till July 14 while any other good free agents left get scooped up.. Depressin to be a rocket fan right now
CP3 ain't going to the Hawks. I mean, to bolt your team after just 2 years after building a relationship with some of your teammates? Not gonna happen. Skeptical about Howard going there too. Even if he is a hometown kid. Nothing appealing about the Hawks whatsoever.
I thought joe johnson was untradeable? Just goes to show how some people blow smoke while others make things happen.
Single brothas lve atl. Hell, married brothas love at. There is a lot to like about atl, ask dominique and mike vick
Anyone can be traded, it's a matter of what you get in return. Arenas was traded for Lewis, for example, in a trade of "untradeable contracts." I have to give props to ATL, though, for finding a team willing to take Joe Johnson. Unique circumstances, though-- not often do you have a team with almost no salary under contract and desperate to keep its on FA star. Ferry did good, but he's also rather lucky.
(Jeremy Lin going to a market with large Asian base - That would be so splendid! Chris Paul/Dwight going to a market with a large "urban" element - Come on, why THERE? ) Atlanta has a very apathetic FAN base. Its like Houston times 3. Thats DIRECTLY pertains to sports in a negative way. But the area itself, the feedback I get from people that live there is they tend to like it. It grows on them. I don't think players have a problem with Atlanta itself, unlike Sacramento and Minnesota. Though still, apathetic fans makes a destination less desirable.
Good start for Ferry. If he can convince Howard to want to come home and play for the Hawks, this could be the start of something big. Howard and his buddy Josh Smith can survive this season and then Ferry can go after CP3 next summer. Indeed the Hawks have an apathetic fans base, but no more than the Heat. If they make big moves and become contenders, their bandwagon will fill up in a hurry.
Shaun Powell Whenever the subject of Dwight Howard returning home someday to play for the Hawks was raised, Dwight (softly) shot down the idea. Since leaving the ATL outta high school, he's never lived there in the off-season, never warmed to the idea of returning. For any reason. 19 minutes ago http://sulia.com/channel/nba-free-ag...source=twitter
Danny Ferry was trying to send a message to players around the league that wants to be traded(ie Dwight)...to place X...No..you dont get to go where you want...You go where we allow you too...once your a FA... its up to you... Danny Ferry singlehandedly...has limited the Nets pursuit of Dwight
Do you really think the Magic are itching to deal with two super power teams in their own division for the foreseeable future? Perhaps they figure their window would open after the Hawks/Heat window closes, but that's not an enviable situation regardless.
For this reason, Ferry is a genius. **** Dwight. Don't let him get what he wants. But also **** the Lakers too, hope he doesn't get there.
