He was so raw that Coach Lewis redshirted Akeem his first year. Not that I'm comparing the two.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Pick your bet and let's go. Drummond in vs out of lottery.

You have to take a chance on a guy with this type of upside. The guy may never pan out but he could turn into the most dominant center in the league in 4 or 5 years. This is not above made for next season or even the next. This is a move designed to give the Rockets a legit championship contending core in a few years.

    Drummand
    Motiejunas
    Parsons / Morris
    ?? / Lee.
    Dragic / Llull

Drummand / DMo / Morris are all seen as very high upside players by the organization.

It's interesting how both Sacramento and Toronto--the two teams currently sitting on the most 2011-12 cap room--are listed as teams with which the Rockets are negotiating to (reportedly) move up to take Andre Drummond. Well, it's unlikely that Drummond is still on the board at #8. So, why is Toronto being mentioned?

My hypothesis: BOTH teams could be involved in a 3-way deal with the Rockets.

Here's a possible scenario for the "Drummond-for-Dwight" crowd:

    Houston receives: #5 pick
Sacramento receives: #8 pick, #14 pick and Samuel Dalembert
    Toronto receives: Kyle Lowry

By trading Lowry ($5.75M) and Dalembert ($7M) to two teams that can absorb their salaries without sending any salary back--remember, draft picks count as $0 in trades and against the cap prior to July 1--the Rockets could find themselves ~$10.8M below the 2011-12 salary cap.

This would mean that the Rockets could absorb (most of) Howard's $18.1M salary ON DRAFT NIGHT without sending back equal salary. Something like Martin, #5 (Drummond) and #16 for Howard would work.

I'm not saying all of this because I am a proponent of getting Dwight Howard. I'm just illustrating how it would be possible to both trade up for Drummond AND trade for Dwight Howard ON DRAFT NIGHT, thereby eliminating Clutch's concerns over there being any sort of "gap" between the draft and a Howard trade.

I'll bet you anything you like that he stays in the 14.

Who knows exactly who they are truely targeting? Either way just a mere months ago Drummond was even flirting with the #1 pick on some mock draft boards. He has the potential to be the next dominant big man, or like you said... the next DeAndre Jordan.

Either way its obvious that the Rockets aren't just happy treading water and that they are willing to swing for the fences. If they pull this off it sort of justifies everything they have stood for the past 6 months that they have been getting flamed for. Which is that they do not have to purposefully lose games to rebuild their roster.

Even if Drummond is a bust, its worth it to make take the homerun swing for principle alone.

...in the NBA. As an 18 year old freshman in college, Bynum would have been dominant, or at worst productive. How do I know? Because he ended up panning out, which would've been impossible if he was not capable of producing against lower level competition like the NCAA.

Who were all dominant or at least productive in their respective leagues prior to arriving in to the NBA. I am not talking about players who needed time to develop their first few years in the league, there are many examples for that. However how many of those sucked before even getting here?

If Dwight is traded, he most likely will be traded with one of Big Baby/JRich and one of QRich/Duhon.

All this talk about Dwight Howard's making me sick. Pepto Bismol, here I come.

Unfortunately I think you guys are on target and we're going to throw away high draft picks and Lowry on renting a jerk with a bad back who'll just crap on us in a year anyway.

Morey believes he can pull the no-state-tax and why-would-you-risk-losing-that-fifth-guaranteed sales job, and Dwight can just say, I'll make it back from whatever sucker team I go to from here, not to mention endorsements.

Me, I'm hoping for Cousins, but not holding my breath. Also a less-than-stellar human being, but more immature than an actual jerk, and would probably like to play for us. But Sacramento won't give him up.

At this point I would not even mind keeping Drummond instead of trading him up for Dwight..

if anything out of this pans out, even better

Marcus Morris was productive in college, and still have yet to produce in the NBA. Just imagine betting the farm on someone who can't even produce in college.

They all sucked at drummonds age. Stockton wasn't good for a couple years in the nba. People have pointed out Hakeem and Bynum.

Maybe we should just rely on your expert draft skill.... Lol.
