ESPN3/ESPN+ is a reasonable possibility - that lets Tech fans watch it online, if nothing else.

Good for Tech on this, though I think everyone knows that the end result won't be the game getting cancelled - Texas State needs this game too much. They are using the leverage they have, just like UT and LHN has attempted to do. LHN's entire attempted business model has been to bully their way into homes -whether it be targetting the cable/satellite providers, schools like BYU/Tech/K-State, etc. Outside of Kansas, no one has budged thus far.

They dont' have any leverage, because nobody wants to watch Texas Tech v. SWTSU. Which is why it probably won't even make lowly ESPNU otherwise and they had to settle for LHN or hope for the "primary" espn platform of internet streaming video.

They have leverage in the sense that Texas State needs & wants this game more than Texas Tech does. And from Tech's perspective, being on internet streaming video is far better than being on LHN - they get nothing out of being on LHN. They are on a rival's network, and none of their fans can watch it anyway.

So basically nobody will see it, or they can use leverage to ensure that nobody will see it.

They can use their leverage that Texas State will lose their biggest & most marketable home game in their inaugural WAC season. And they know the WAC has no interest in the LHN, so there really is no incentive for the WAC to hold firm. It's a pretty easy call for Tech - they really lose nothing either way, so its an easy game for them to take a stand on, and the likely scenario is that Tech gets their way and the game is moved.

I really don't blame Tech for that, if it was UT playing on the Red Raider Network (lol) they'd feel the same way. Sucks for TXST though, they're just a victim of circumstance. Look at it this way though, at least they didn't leave the conference over it.

Exactly ... Tech has/nor should they have any interest in helping ESPN/Texas get their network distributed. The LHN is desperate for programming, and it is worth it for Tech to lose money to avoid helping ESPN/Texas out (further widening the gap between Tech and Texas' resources). ESPN and Texas are bullies that are going to ask for and promise only an inch, take a foot, and then bulldoze their way to a mile. Tech should have no interest in helping them do that. Edit: And to be clear, once Texas signed the deal with the LHN, I believe most of the bullying is being done by ESPN and they are pretty damn good at that. I fully expect them to get their way at some point, which is good for UT I guess.

haha ... as if they had a choice. Every team that has had a choice did leave the Conference. Hell, OU and OSU would have left if not for the fact that they got rejected from the PAC XII because absolutely no one cares about the prized Oklahoma TV market.

Dallas is an Oklahoma market. And everyone knows how Dallas thinks they're LA.

Guys, Tech is just scared and they're using the LHN as an excuse not to get embarrassed in San Marcos. Plus, they know if their kids go to San Marcos and see the beautiful landscape, both human and geographical, they'll want to transfer.

I'll never understand why anyone would willingly move to Lubbock or not leave immediately after getting there. Just a horrible place.

Well Texas State was beating Tech last year at halftime. Though the final score ended up at 50-10

No reason UT should show a game that doesn't involve UT on their network. That simply doesn't make sense...

Not really realignment but sub-discussions of realignment(?). Move if necessary.

$20 million/school is pretty salty. 13 year pledge of media rights. The Big XII isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

This morning on the drive to work, I heard some funny rumors about A&M now claiming old championships and questionable conference titles. I guess they took some lessons from Alabama.

I saw this on Twitter last night...something about a sign on the stadium saying they were conference champs in 2010.

I guess they were the south co-champs that year.

that's right...they were South Division Co-Champs along with OU and OSU that season, apparently. I had to pull up wiki to remember that. Apparently they're referring to South Division championships as Conference Championships on the board...the same is true of 1997, apparently. It's just funny to me that they added these just over the summer...added two national titles from the early part of the 20th century and some conference championships from recent history that they hadn't claimed before.

here's an article about it:
