It didn't take long for it to turn into one of those threads.

The article is incoherent. To clarify for those who didn't comprehend; the man took one police officer's gun, shot the officer carrying a gun, chased down the other officer whose gun he stole and shot her in the back several times.

I'm inclined to say the outcome would have been different if the cops were men.

Being Muslim or North African or Arab doesn't make anyone more likely to kill a police officer than it does from someone white or Southern Baptist or from Texas to kill a doctor who performs abortions.

All religions are full of contradiction, but I'm pretty sure you will have a hard time finding a passage in the Koran that says it's ok to kill police officers that stand in the way of drug dealing.

It doesn't seem like this was motivated by religious beliefs or related "cultural beliefs" like, e.g., "honor killings". The guy seemed to be a criminal nutcase who happened to be Muslim.

Also, OP, I don't see the point of this thread in the D&D. Sorry you feel this way about Islam and are trying to indicate this being Islam's fault somehow. The guy didn't have religious motives. He was a drug user ---> forbidden in Islam. He was disrespectful to his mother ---> forbidden in Islam. His action of murder also ---> forbidden in Islam.

I really don't know why my opinion would be so surprising. It is clear that there is a difference between what this guy did and, e.g., some guy doing an "honor killing" (which I understand is not what Islam as most (moderate) people see it would mandate, but some crazy people see it as a cultural/religious duty or something). I don't think I blamed things on Islam which had nothing to do with Islam.
