We will never know if he could carry a team with Gasol alone and scrubs instead of having Artest, Odom and a quality big man prospect in Bynum but all we know is he did not do well with Odom, Butler and scrubs and demanded to be traded at one point in his career
See. If you take pride in what you do, say your profession, the game you play this player as great as he is, should not admit that in an interview. Even if the player does it. Perhaps its just me. but its a pride thing. You want to do it on your own. You just can't admit it to the media :' All I did my entire career, is stolen from others. Nothing of my game hasn't been done before.' You just don't say that in front of the media.
He said that? You're the first to tell me that. I thought I heard "Throughout my career, I've stole moves from legends" or something like that. I don't think he ever said "entire career" or "nothing of my game hasn't been done before" but I'm curious to see now if he actually did say that. I'll check out the film study video once again. EDIT: He said "You see a lot of similarities in players, there isn't a move that's a "new" move, there's nothing that hasn't been done before. I've seriously stolen all of these moves from great players." I don't see how he lost pride by saying that.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playo...st=macmullan_jackie&page=kobefilmstudy-100604 Maybe I just imagined him as a proud player. Some would say arrogant, cocky. I'd say proud. It does not really matter, blameTracy. We know he's way better than Tracy. As a Rocket and NBA fan I'd still put the likes of Olajuwon, Russell, MJ (played under different rules), Duncan, Baylor, Robertson, maybe West, Magic and Bird ahead of him. Even Shaq is questionable
First of all Shaq needed to grow as a basketball player. Furthermore he needed a great team to win it all. But he was the main guy on the team. Jordan also used a player like Pippen, but that doesn't mean that Pippen was better than Jordan. Bird needed players like Mchale, but that doesn't mean Mchale was a better player. Horry's threes were very important in his championship teams. Without him the lakers would have los to Sacramento. But that does not make him the best player on the team. Is it really that difficult to understand. Kobe is a great player. But he was NOT the best player on that 3peat team. He was the second best player. And if you are not the best player on a championship team those championships do not count as much in the discussion of best of all time. Furthermore are you comparing Kobe to Jones and van Exel those are all stars at best they will never be mentioned in any debate about best player on a team. Hardaway was great but Much to young. and he did get that team in the finals. But Hakeem was just to good.
exactly. it's like saying that you stole the turn-around jumper or the crossover dribble. there really is not much you can do to innovate the game anymore other than various combinations of moves. kobe is the best in the league hands down. if he keeps it up then he will be the GOAT. i wish he scored over 100 to beat wilt. just so that i can say i saw it in my lifetime. the guy is pure heart. lebron can learn a lot from him. just look at how well he knows his strengths and, more importantly, his weaknesses. he knows he isn't as quick or strong as before. so he tries to improve his game in other ways. did tmac do that? AI? VC? any of the great scoring guards from the 90s and early 2000's? yeah, if you put lbj, melo, or wade on the lakers they would still be no. 1 and in the finals but they aren't on the lakers. your team success dictates your greatness. if your team isn't up to par then either leave or tell your GM to get some better pieces. the guy is already a legend and on his way to being the GOAT (barring injuries) the guy is so good that even haters like myself can see his greatness through our blinders. /kobe nut hugging now c'mon Celtics prevent this damn lakers Repeat. i hope his team is still at the top next season. i dont want an asterisk next to the rockets 3rd title. would be nice to beat the celtics but there is no doubt that they are aging. i liked our chances last year if KG and Yao hadn't been injured. Celts/Rox Finals would've gone 7 games and been pure heart and clutch shots. what if right?
