Last year, the Rocky Mountain Institute released their Pentagon co-sponsored study, "Winning the Oil Endgame", that claims that if we spent 180 billion over ten years towards its reccomendations, we could get off oil and save 133 billion dollars a year afterwards. Their solutions are market based, relies on current realistic technologies and its expected growth, and doesn't require government mandates. The study has been peer reviewed and even oil execs have given praise to it. A 3 page summary, in magazine format, by its CEO can be found here- http://www.rmi.org/images/other/Energy/E05-02_EndOilDepend.pdf They're even offering the entire 330 page book free online. http://www.oilendgame.com/ReadTheBook.html The institute website is at http://www.rmi.org/ and it holds a lot of business friendly solutions towards our current environment and resource conditions. To sum it up, the solution ends our reliance on foreign oil, reduces oil inefficiencies which would also reduce car generated pollution, gives us 133 billion a year after full implementation, and doesn't rely on heavy government regulation for the cost of what we spend on oil in 5-6 weeks. There's something fundamentally wrong with our media.
