Though likley just some sportswriter for the Seattle paper, it does give you a view of oters opionions of Steve, etc. around the league. Steve played well in the playoffs and Taylor showed that he can, at least at times, be dominating offensively.

I'd do that trade even without the draft pick, though.

I would have to pull the trigger on this deal if it was offered.

I want to keep Steve but I want to subtract Mo.

Berry is a FA.

It would have to include a sign and trade kicker for Barry. If Steve's going anywhere, it's to the East.

Taylor was a great scorer off the bench in many games, it would be tough to replace that. But if we got Barry and Allen then Cat would have to come off the pine and take over the bench scoring role, which he's probably best for.

Yes, sign and trade with Barry.

Ray Allen's contract: $1,4625,000 next season

Francis' contract: $1,140,000 next season(???, someone can confirm this?)
Taylor: 2004 $8,450,000; 2005 $9,100,000; 2006 $9,750,000

Francis and Taylor's contracts are top big 2 in Rockets.

We would end up with THREE shooting guards (Barry is not a PG), and Mark Jackson as our starting PG. Cato and Weatherspoon would be our power forwards. That is ugly.

Of course, the draft, free agents, and other trades could fix that. But this would have to be the first in a series of moves.

Call me greedy but I couldn't, in sane frame of mind, do this trade. Maybe it's all the Brand and McGrady talk. It'd be like us talking about where to do dinner. We talk about Bennihana or Aquarium and we end up just getting Whataburger. No knock against Whataburger, it's good stuff, but I was kind of hoping we'd get some good chinese or something.

Also those guys are on the older end of the spectrum. That means we'd have to re-tool again way too soon.

Shoot. jsut check all 3 seattle papers. zippo.

This was as close as i could get - possible portland SAR for Allen.

http://www.tribnet.com/sports/basket...-4903512c.html

That's why I've been pimping 3-way. SF3 portland, Allen houston, sar -seattle. I've also been trying to get a s&t Taylor for barry in there somehow.

Lemme go chek the philly rags.

----------------------

Nothing happens until July 1, of course, when SF3 byc expires and Allen is eligible for extension.

So...ugh. It'll be a long wait.

this deal looks good on the surface, but what do we do at the 4 then? barry and allen are both about to hit the downside of their careers, so two years from now we are stuck with high price low production players. if they would replace barry with rashard I'd pull the trigger, especially if that pick was guaranteed (possibly top 3).

Actually, I hope Francis can stay with Rockets next season.
I know Yao and Francis are brothers, Yao must be very sad about this trade.

But, you know, this is life.

i would do it in a heart beat, we can pick up a pg...iam sure we can try to lure brent barry since allen and him have played already. and then sign stromile swift with the T.E.
C-Yao Ming/Cato
PF-Stromile Swift/Weatherspoon
SF-Jim Jackson/Boki
SG-Ray Allen/Cuttino
PG-Brent Barry/Mark

or maybe we can turn the first in to ridounur....

Then post the chinese link. We have members here who can read it.

Why was this thread worthy? We're not that desperate for offseason topics yet, are we??
