I knew it was coming, but it's still very tough to read.

Good. I believe the realignment of the bones is the best long term option for Yao. Hopefully the surgery will work as well as it did for Ilgauskas.

I agree. It is the best option. If they had just placed more pins in it, I would have little comfort in re-signing Yao because his foot problems would persist. Now, with the bone grafts, perhaps his foot won't continually break and we can get full seasons of Yao for many years to come.

Took long enough to make, what I thought was, a fairly simple decision. Maybe they're just now coming out with it, but the decision was made weeks ago. Who knows.

exactly... but maybe he was timing it so he would miss the season and not have to play any Chinese national ball either.

Doubt it,this is such an important decision that he needed to get the best advice possible. That took time.

I don't see how it affects it one way or the other. If the surgery is successful, Yao will be ready to play by next summer, just in time to fulfill CNT obligations if they choose to make him play.

?

I'm sure anyone who considered buying tickets changed their mind back when they announced Yao's injury had gotten worse or were waiting for this point to make their decision.

Major Chinese websites reported that the surgery will NOT be performed by Dr. Clanton, Yao will go with the Dr. who fixed Big Z, Dr. Clanton will be in the crew though. Do not know if it is accurate.

Those websites are always riddled with inaccuracy. Why do people continue to believe them?

Chinese website vs Darryl Morey. Who is right? I'll go with Darryl Morey on this one. I am sure those Chinese websites are right on other things.

I am sure the websites asked Yao. Morey can't dictate what doctor Yao goes to. If Yao goes to anybody but Z's doctor he's an idiot. This is his career and he needs to go the best surgeon he can. I don't trust Clanton like many around here.

Finally a decision is made. He should have done this earlier. Good luck Yao and hope for a speedy and full recovery.

I'm glad he decided to go the "Ilgauskas" route and get those puppies realigned.

Best of luck to the big guy!
