Rookies Mario Chalmers of the Miami Heat and Darrell Arthur of the Memphis Grizzlies were thrown out of the NBA's Rookie Transition Program on Wednesday morning after being caught in their hotel room at Doral Arrowwood in Rye Brook, N.Y., with mar1juana, according to sources.

"Yes, they were sent home for violating program rules,'' NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said.

According to a source, the players were also fined $20,000 each and will begin the season on the suspended list. McIntyre would not confirm that, but he said the league will continue to investigate the matter and that appropriate sanctions will take place.

Chalmers and Arthur were both members of last year's NCAA champion Kansas Jayhawks.

Glad we passed up on Arthur. The Heat can't catch a break, they have high hopes for Chalmers. Seems like him and Beasley are going to be "lighting" it up this season, if you know what I mean. Wade needs to jump ship, that team is going nowhere especially with Chalmers as their starting PG.

Isn't that kind of backwards, wouldn't it make more sense to make them stay for more transition training. I mean, if they don't go through the "Get an entourage member to take the fall for your drugs" class this sort of thing is going to keep happening to them throughout their careers.

Why does everyone act like smoking pot is so much worse than drinking alcohol?

If the Griz are under pressure to move Arthur, I'd be happy to send Luther over for him. Still unhappy we passed on him twice. Less so now that Greene became Artest.

Yep, when's the last time you heard about "HIGH" drivers killing people.
When's the last time you heard about someone dying from a mar1juana overdose?

    Probably never.

That's what I was thinking. Are they going to be bummed out by having to miss transition camp?

Why the roll eyes? It is dangerous to drive drunk and it is dangerous to drive high.

You know, I'm not anti-mar1juana. I could give a damn less if people smoke pot. What does piss me off though as that these guys can't stop even though it violates league rules and they've got multi-millions coming to them if they can just do what they're supposed to do. I mean come on! You can't stop smoking pot for a job that might pay you MILLIONS? I know people who have stopped smoking weed so they can keep their job that pays 25 grand a year.

It's the sense of entitlement they have that pisses me off. Clearly they think the rules don't apply to them.
