Is $1200 for air and hotel for two people for five nights in three weeks a good deal at the Wynn? Is the Wynn really that great? I know there's a bunch of degenerates on this board that go there--help a brother out...
i'd assume a roundtrip flight for 2 would run you in the range of $450 so you're looking at 5 nights at the Wynn averaging $250ish If you're including a Fri and Sat night in the middle of the June (people say prices drop, but man it's still tough cause it's vacation season), that's not a bad deal. If it's Sun-Thurs nights, my guess would be that you can find better. Even including the Fri & Sat nights, I'd personally do the leg work to see if I could find some better deals. I got some of my friends into the Wynn at $120/night for 3 nights I think that was Tues-Thurs nights, so different. And that was during this month--I think it'll be higher in June. But just saying, there are deals that come around, and that's why my guess would be that you could find it cheaper
not too bad a deal then. Maybe you could find it at $1000 instead of $1200 if you did a lot of legwork yourself? That's just a guess. But is $200 worth doing a lot of pricing homework over the course of the next week or 2? Depends on the person/situation (And you might not get anything better, too.. no guarantees without looking of course)
edit: i'm an idiot. didn't think about math before You're getting a solid deal. $750/5 = 150, not 250. I'd take it (the link I was gonna leave here was 159/night on average, so essentially the same thing, but you'd have to find a flight)
Actually, the real question was if the Wynn is worth it. I can get a four star for 200 less. And what do you mean by "legwork"?
if you've never stayed at the wynn or bellagio, i think it's worth it at least once. Definitely noticeably nicer. For a difference of $200 over 5 nights, personally, I'd still go for the Wynn. I was just saying you'd have to look for flight deals on your own, price out different airports/times/dates, etc. and then price out different hotels, look for deals online, try and priceline the hotels if you chose to go that route, etc. It can be an involved process if you really want the best deal possible, but it's a tradeoff for the time it takes to get that deal. That's all..
The Wynn and Bellagio (same owner) are as nice as it gets right on the strip. I haven't been to Vegas lately (1 year?), so I'm not sure what prices are due to the economy, lower tourists, etc...but it sounds like a good deal to me. I'm not sure what kind of room you're supposed to get, but there's a well-known $20 trick: fold up a 20 and hand it to the clerk w/ your credit card when you pay. They will either pocket it and upgrade your room, or politely tell you they can't take your money and give it back to you. Just google it or check out fatwallet.com or slickdeals.com forums, there's plenty of talk about it.
it's not the same owner. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Wynn_(developer) Steve Wynn built the Bellagio and then sold it to MGM Mirage. Steve also built Treasure Island and the Mirage. Steve owns Wynn, Wynn Macau and Encore. The Wynn rooms are suppose to be nicer since it's a newer hotel. I stayed at Bellagio in March, it was nice, but they still have CRT TVs. the 20$ trick didn't work when I was at the MGM. they just gave me back my $20.
I say stay at the Wynn. I've only heard great things about it. I know the buffet is better at the Wynn. The Bellagio has a really nice poker room with good competition.
