They're basically the exact same player. Van Horn is slightly better at rebounding but that's it otherwise.
Rudy's a better defender than KVH ever was, but the latter was able to play pretty effectively as a stretch PF, so you could argue that he was a bit more versatile. Of course, the knock on Keith was his reputation as a postseason choke-artist. But maybe that's better than never having played in the playoffs at all.
This thread actually motivated me to go back and look at KVH's career numbers and whatnot. I forget, did KVH leave the game because of some chronic injury? The reason I ask is that he retired relatively young and I feel that he could have been someone that contributed to a contender for a few more years as a spot-up shooter and little else. His shooting percentages, particularly his 3P and FT%, were still very good in his last couple of seasons. He was a zero defensively, but as long as you weren't looking for him to play long stretches, I think teams could have dealt with that.
I wish we had a script that would replace "Rudy Gay" with "Keith Van Horn".....I would love to see Kwame et al going on about what a great player Keith Van Horn is.
Well, KVH is on his way (if he's not already) to being as good as KD35. By the end of the season KVH may actually surpass KD35 in all of his glory and greatness.
