FFB just posted in D&D about how he worked as a door guy in 98 while "sidelining as a country singer" and since we often discuss funny stuff here I thought this would be a good forum in which to have a good laugh about this. Debate and discuss.
Fatty's got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases his blues away And he'll be okay
His Chris Gaines moment perhaps? An opportune time to escape his hellish and demanding FFB persona? FATTY, please explain yourself!
I guess we have all "sidelined as a country singer" if that means acting like George Jones every now and then.
i think no matter the real story we should all start using "sidelining as a country singer" as a euphemism for having sex. e.g. i like to get fomfotable and go sidelining as a country singer.
"working the door" works for that as well. Back in '98, I was working the door while sidelining as a country singer pretty much every night. Best time of my life. there was even an article about it in 93Q magazine.
I was thinking it could be used as a gay euphemism. "I think mayzar sidelines as a country singer... if you know what I mean"
no no no. "Hiking the appalachian trail" is the new euphemism for sex. We can't have too many at once or they'll get all confused.
I say we just interject it randomly as a new BBS meme. Example: (courtesy forum member Big Shot Rob) I appreciate the dedication and commitment to the fundamentals of the game, the willingness to step in front of a 6'8'', 260 lb. forward and take a charge, and the sound, technical perimeter defense displayed by a Battier-type player, but he'll always be under-appreciated to the naked eye because he lacks what the casual fan has come to cherish in NBA players: rim-rattling dunks, behind-the-back passes in transition, and sidelining as a country singer.
"sidelining as a Country Singer" Should be a euphemism for failing to grow up, and being directionless. As in: You know, I'm currently sidelining as a country singer. Would you like fries with that?
I'm sure I've brought this up before. I was a country singer for a bit back in the 90's. I had a band in college, but decided to get my degree before attempting anything. Came back to Houston and worked at an S&L for a year before I decided I'd give it a shot. I had some moderate success, sang at the Houston LS&R and Pasadena fairgrounds, was in 93Q the magazine, etc. but my biggest break was an agent signing me on to sing in South Africa for 6 months. It was a "gratis" trip, meaning they'd take care of the expenses, but that was it. Simply a way to get out there. Anyway, 2 months prior to my going, my future ex-wife got pregnant, and it was time to make a living, so I cancelled, got my 7, and went to work at Morgan Stanley. Oddly enough, that was when I found this board. (it was the first time I was around a computer on a regular basis.)
