As Plantersville’s newest resident I thought it would be good to start a thread about The Texas Renaissance Festival that is soon to kick off right down the road. I will be attending several times over the course of the festival and would like for you guys to comment on: Have you been? What were some of your experiences? What do you know about the crazy old man that owns/runs it? What rumors have you heard about it? What is fun to do there? Please share some stories and experiences. BTW – I don’t want to hear about it being expensive…we all know it is. PS-Sorry about starting a couple threads in a couple of hours...it is unlike me but I have been glued to the computer taking a practice test ALL DAMNED DAY!
I love the festival! It is great fun, especially the beer garden, and especially if you smuggle in some liquor so you don't spend too much at the beer garden. The food is another one of my favorite parts, as well as the interesting shopping that can be done. I go at least twice every year with a group of friends and if you want to come party with us you are more than welcome. I live only about twenty minutes from it. It is fun getting wasted and seeing everyone in costume or throwing axes or knives or tripping on shrooms and sitting in the gardens. But I don't think we will be tripping this year. But if you want to, it is fun!
I'm in. Stay in touch and let me know when you are going and we will get tore up from the floor up. I live a minute away from that oddity. Definitely let me know. AIM me at chancekear if you can.
Ye olde yao minge song ... onlye 15 crownes! Dude, that thing sucks hard. Painful Death to all faires.
Beer. Corsets/Breasts. Beer. Food. Beer. Large breasts. That's about all I remember from last year. Hope that helps.
There is a youch of booze in those. I am strickly a Kool Aid guy these days ** **only when Vodka is not present I treat it like any sporting event. If you want the hard stuff, take a large flask.
Turkey legs and funnel cakes... mmm... haven't been in several years. Wouldn't mind going again some day.
Ded bob show is funny if you've never seen it before. I'm not that big a fan of Ren Fest. It's enjoyable, something worth experiencing, but not especially memorable for me.
I will e-mail you before opening weekend. We usually go then. Opening weekend and Halloween are the two most popular weekends. We don't dress up, don't worry. But I do have a fetish for the girls in fairy costumes.... Hope to see you there, and anyone else that wants to come.
I haven't been in about 20 years. When it comes to fests, I prefer the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival and Oktoberfest to the Renaissance Festival. Just my $.02.
RenFest kicked ass...I won a rose for my girlfriend (now wife) by hugging some big fat chick at the Water Well Wenches show. I heard that if you go on the very last day, you can get those swords for really dirt cheap prices...can anybody confirm this?
I've never been to the festival, but my band has played many times at Henry's Hideout, which down the road from the festival, and it's fun to have all of the festival people come out in their costumes. Those are some crazy nights out there in the Piney Woods. Enjoy!
yes but i suck ass. i love it though. I live right by that place. it's a trip. i don't think they'd take to kindly to a pulltab gig.
I've been every year for the past 20 years (at least). The fest has changed a lot over the years. In days of old you could go out into the woods near sherwood forest and smoke herbal jazz cigs but those days are gone (for the fest and for me). These days I smuggle in some rum and drink rum and cokes all day. I also enjoy watching my daughter experience the joy of discovering a world full of magic. This will be the first year my little boy is going so I'll get to double up on the fun with the kids. We all dress in full costume and have a great time. We always go first, middle and last weekends. My favorite days are the cold rainy days when everyone else stays away.
