Hey! I just bought this CD yesterday (at Virgin MegaStore's crazy 30% off AMEX Blue sale). It's sitting in my CD player right now... Manny, maybe you can help. I'm looking for more Engima-like chill music, but so far, all I've come up with is Delerium. I've heard some things about Mythos, but I don't know if they're any good. Can you (or anyone else) point me in the right direction? Also, since you seem to like Delerium, what's their best album? Also currently in my CD player: Dave Matthews Band - Live in Chicago Lord of the Rings soundtrack Phish - Billy Breathes Phish - Story of the Ghost James Taylor - Greatest Hits Dido - No Angel God Street Wine - God Street Wine String Cheese Incident - Born on the Wrong Planet Atlantis: The Lost Empire soundtrack Radiohead - Kid A Dave Matthews Band - Live at Luther College (Disc 1 only)

I'd be more than happy to help, VecseySux. Delerium is an awesome dance/electronica/new age act that is similar to Enigma, but IMHO, even better. Originally started as a side project by Frontline Assembly members, Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber (however Fulber would leave Delerium after Karma). Their first couple of CDs were very dark and could be considered "ambient industrial". This included CDs like Morpheus and Spheres, Vol 1. It was Semantic Spaces that started them as a dance outfit. Kristy Thirsk (of the Rose Chronicles) sings on only 2 tracks, tracks 1 & 4, but they are outstanding, especially Track 1, Flowers Become Screens. The rest of the tracks are instrumentals with a generous amount of bass and samples of Gregorian chants. This CD truly gets better and better after every listen. However, the follow-up CD, Karma, was even better, IMO. Featuring more vocalists plus 2 awesome samples of Dead Can Dance on 2 separate tracks, this CD is one of my top 5 ever! Kristy Thirsk returns and sings 3 tracks (all excellent) plus Sarah McLachlan sings the biggest hit in Silence, one of the best songs that I have ever heard. Euphoria (Firefly) sung by Jacqui Hunt 9of Single Gun Theory) is also outstanding. Hell, the whole album is outstanding. This CD has the perfect balance in vocal tracks and instrumental ones. Poem which comes next falls short. Fulber had left the group and Thirsk does not sing on any of the tracks. There's only 1 instrumental track, and although this CD is good, it can come across as too poppy and not in the same spirit as "Semantic Spaces" or "Karma". Still some great vocalists can be found on this one including Leigh Nash (of Sixpence None the Richer), Kirsty Harkshaw (sang on some Orbital tracks including Halcyon On + On+), and even a male vocalist, Matthew Sweet. Be careful about this one...there are several versions out there, but it seems that the only one in print right now has as the last track, "Silence" (edited version). Delerium has come out with a remix CD that I will probably get that features tracks from the 3 mentioned CDs. But as for original material, I have no idea when that will happen. Amazon has recommended to me because of my buying of Delerium stuff artists like: Enigma (obvious) Deep Forest Mythos Phobos Oceania I have all of Enigma's stuff except for their greatest hits CD, but their best CD, IMO, is the one that I have in my car, Enigma 3. I don't have anything by Deep Forest, Mythos, or Phobos, but I plan on getting stuff by them. I bought the Oceania CD recently and it is Maori music and it's awesome. A great CD if you like Enigma, Delerium, and Adiemus, etc. I am providing you with a link to a list from "Listmania" on Amazon. This list and the ones to the right of it can give you even more suggestions for what you are looking for. I hope you enjoy Semantic Spaces as much as I have! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...90139/sr=5-1/ref=lm_ol_17/104-1170937-5991135
I was waiting for another one of these threads to come around.... My wife got me a Sony 400 Disc player for Christmas. So, ALL my CDs (210+) are in my player.

Thanks for the reply (and history lesson), Manny. Unfortunately, I rank Enigma 3 as the worst CD they've released, so perhaps our tastes are a little bit different than I originally thought*... I happen to like Semantic Spaces, and I'm glad to see that you think Karma is even better. "Silence" is a great song, and it's that type of music I'm looking for. (I heard it playing at a Sephora in the City a few days ago while shopping with my fiancee...) I saw the remix CD of Delerium, but I was scared off by the word "remix." I once downloaded a remix version of "silence" and absolutely hated it. I've never really heard a remix I liked anyway, so no big loss. As for other artists, I might try Deep Forest next to see how they are. I love the song "Adiemus" (by Adiemus), but I'm not as impressed with their other stuff. I'll definitely take you up on your advice and check out your suggestions (while my desperate search for great, soothing chill-music continues). For the meanwhile, I guess I'll stick with Enigma and Enya. *Does this mean I'll like Poem??
"Best of the Fabulous Thunderbirds", the best songs from their first four albums. Yes kids, that was before "Tuff Enough". Waaaaay before.
I'm not surprised that you would say that about Enigma 3, VS, because I have read other people say the same thing. It's the songs on that CD that make it good for me like Beyond the Invisible, TNT for the Brain, The Child Within Us, and The Prism of Life. I can't help but smile when I listen to those tracks. Actually I would rank in order of my favorite Enigma CDs this way: 1) Enigma 3 2) The Screen Behind the Mirror 3) Mcmxc A.D. 4) The Cross of Changes I do think that you will like Poem, if you like Karma because of the vocals. To me, it is still good but not great because it is mssing Fulber and Kristy Thirsk. Don't be afraid of remix CDs...I used to be like that as well, but depending on who is doing the re-mixing will tell you if the CD will be any good or not. Also, if you are a diehard fan, then you might want a re-mix album. I would recommend you go to Amazon.com and read the reviews that others gave a re-mix CD if you are interested in one. I have over 400 CDs now, so chances are I have some more stuff that you might be interested in. If you want to, you can email me using the BBS (my email is up at the top) to find out more.
Good work, rockhead! The Charlatans are awesome! As for chill-out music, try Goldfrapp's "Utopia" cd...blissful. I am currently in an odd Fleetwood Mac mode, along with the Beatles' "White Album," many George Harrison cds, naturally, and some groovy, rare Chemical Brothers stuff I nabbed off of the net..a few songs from their forthcoming album are Godlike, incidentally.
Prokoviev (The Five piano concertos: overture on Hebrew themes), Rachmaninov- the preludes, Liszt, and Alkan as performed by Marc-Andre Hamelin.
