If I can't have a top five pick ... I take Patrick in a heartbeat. He my boy! He's developed an outside game, so he can stretch the defense more than any 6'8" pf we've ever had.
Kentucky had to spend all their money on the new freshmen coming in. Patterson had to take a paycut so he left for the NBA.
I was being hyperbolic! And Scotty is working hard with the one and done's at UK preparing them to come play for the Rockets
I'm not particularly worried about Patterson's height. Dude has LONG arms and HUGE hands. He basically has the wingspan and standing reach of most CENTERS! His build reminds me a lot of Elton Brand (minus just a little bulk). Frankly, I think he has the potential to be a better version of Carl Landry, possibly with some shot-blocking ability. I would be VERY happy if he somehow fell to the Rockets at #14, but I just think another team in the back half of the lottery will wise up and realize that he's perhaps the most NBA-ready big man in the draft and ready to step in as an instant rotation player.
ehh ... He does have a long wingspan but don't get carried away he measures the same as McGrady, 6'8 with a 7'2 wingspan, which isn't that great for the PF position... I prefer any of the taller guys that will be available at our position... 7'0 Motiejunas will be there according to Chad Ford, and so will Vesely. --RB
That's true, they're both bad rebounders. Here's hoping another team grabs him and pushes a more talented guy back to our pick.
Agreed. Patterson has all the makings of a legit, NBA-ready power forward in this league. I'll try to forget about his complete Houdini act in the West Virginia game, though.
In the WV game, Patterson looked like he was auditioning for the NBA rather than taking his opponent seriously. In fact, in that one game, I kept thinking, these guys better play as a team and quit catering to the NBA scouts, these guys better play as a tea and quit catering....too late. He's a good player, but I only see drafting him if Morey and Adelman are completely about the bigs that are left at the 14-spot.

I hated him in that game. He kept shooting jump shots instead of dominating WVU's small lineup inside.
Patterson is nowhere near the rebounder/defender as Brand. I'm not sure a Carl-clone is what we need right now. I'd like to see Cousins in Rox uniform. Dude is a legit big man with post skills and a massive frame to work with in order to thrive in the pro level. I'm hoping the Rockets could trade up for him.
