Has he signed yet? Are they saving a roster spot for him? The Rockets stated they waived Marcus Campbell but he's still listed on the Rockets website as part of the roster. I saw Campbell play at fan appreciation day during their scrimmage. Though they weren't playing very hard, he didn't look that bad. He might make a good bench warmer as the third option behind Dorsey

morey had said in a radio interview on 1560
that mutombo will wait for a roster spot to open up
morey said that they will more than likely make a trade later on in the season
that would probably open a roster spot for deke

The Rockets webite is probably not up to date, b/c Campbell was waived. From what I have heard on 610 am, the Rockets are waiting to call Deke up, b/c they want him to rest, stay heathy, and they might sign him mid-point through the season, to help take some pressure off Yao both the 2nd half of the season, and also into the playoffs (hopefully).

I didn't know there was a guy named Marcus Campbell on this team.

I don't like it. I want his presence on the bench ASAP. What he does is provide contagious enthusiasm to all the players on the bench (except Francis). Even when we were losing and calling for Adelman's head our entire bench supported the team. Guys like Yao now show that type of enthusiasm at all times, its instilled. I want to make sure we retain that, I want Artest to experience it.

This is stupid. The wait game. Stop playing pee pee games. Sign him now.

I'm wondering too. We have like 3 players I didn't even know we had but they aren't getting any time in the pre-season games (so far) so I don't know how they will decide who to cut.

The Astros have several past players signed to personal services contracts, does the NBA do anything like that? Deke could sign with the Rockets with that kind of contract and then sign on as player later on when needed.
