A spin off from the TP thread in the NBA Dish -- I used to listen to French hip hop quite a bit in the 90's but haven't heard much lately. Just looking for suggestions of new artists/ etc. with the best flow. Let's have a limit of two vids per post... I can't feel any type of music that is not in some form of English. Don't get me wrong, it sounds cool but If I don't understand what they are saying, I'm not going to like the song. Its like watching a foreign movie with no subtitles.
How about Snow? I know he is Canadian, but I don't understand a word he says and it might as well be French.
lmao good point.... "Informaaa, shinoshigalamalomsigamonay.. a licky bom bom down!" It doesnt get anymore french than that.
I just think French hip hop has such a smooth flow that it doesn't really matter if you understand them or not. Yeah it would be better to know the message, but it's still good stuff. _______ Ima_drummer not all music can have banjos and fiddles.
ok so I will give you some name's: The best rappers are all from either different parts of Paris or from Marseille, and the style between these two city's are quite different I think, so I will divide the rappers into Paris and Marseille. Also I would like to say that I'm just goin to give those who are most famous at the moment. Paris: From the 94: Rohff 113 Kery James Intouchable all those rappers are from the mafia k1 fry crew in the 94 area, Paris From the 93: Tandem Mac Tyer who's a member of the Tandem group Sefyu Ghetto Fabulous (crew) and some famous old school french rappers with Joey Starr and Kool Shen who formed the duo NTM From the 92: Booba Nessbeal LIM From the 91: Diam's, the most famous female rapper at the french rap scene today Sinik Factor x From the 95: Sniper Arsenik Pit Baccardi and some famous old school french rappers with Passi, Stomy Bugsy and Doc Gyneco Ok so that sums up the best from Paris, Marseille doesen't have as many rappers as Paris. Marseille: Psy4 de la rime Soprano (a member of Psy4) Keny Arkana, female rapper Fonky Family and the french rap legends, one of the first to create the french rap scene IAM, with some front figurs in Akhenaton, Shurik'n and Freeman. Finally two links on youtube, I can give u some more if the interest is up! Tandem - 93 harcore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi3wMvPA5gA&mode=related&search= Mafia K1 Fry - Guerre http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJNJv1W54u0
I am your antithesis. I love listening to music I can't understand. I think it adds more truth to what ur listening to by just feeling. It's like listening to classical music. You just feel it. Sometimes it's nice to hear something without hearing lyrics that just make everything so trite. Sometimes the lyrics convolute the meaning or theme.
first three are NTM, last one is Shurikan <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UFSb7ftZTw4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UFSb7ftZTw4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GBwAQmLDokg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GBwAQmLDokg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/waIjB5a_FEI"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/waIjB5a_FEI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pdEgvRbnAuE"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pdEgvRbnAuE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Pretty good list, Ghettostar85. Although there are lots of them I don't like (I don't understand how anyone can buy a Diam's album for example). Those are the most famous rappers today for sure. Not as famous but here are a lot of french rappers that I believe are really good: Les Spécialistes (couldn't find any youtube video of them) La Rumeur http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzbF5G76hNA Oxmo Puccino http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLXRM_RJyO4 (great lyrics on those previous 2 songs) Rocé http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi1oRiSwde4 Kohndo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LorXtS4JCbg (sorry, I have no idea how to post the youtube videos directly in my post )
Brazilian rap is pretty cool -- here's a video of the "Brazilian JayZ," Marcelo D2...this song is with an American rapper, so it's in English in the beginning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v82lKhJw2ys (I don't know how to post the actual video)
I really like: Saïan Supa Crew http://www.wmaker.net/saiansupacrew/ and IAM http://www.iam.tm.fr/iam.html
