So I'm in a Yahoo fantasy league with 12 teams. Every year I jokingly name my team "Your Name Here" in false hopes of getting a local business to sponsor.

Well this time I sent an email to a local business in the 620 & 2222 area in Austin next to my building. Here is the email:

    Hi!

I am in a fantasy football league here at *Major Telecommunications Company* over in
River Place CC. My team name is "Your Name Here". I
chose this name because I am seeking a local sponsor.

We all eat regularly at Boat House Grill and enjoy it
thoroughly. I think that this would be a great way
for your restaurant to get some consistent exposure
    here at *local telecommunications company*.

My league can be viewed at
    http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/blahblahblah
All I ask in return is a catfish basket. What you get
    is PRICELESS!

So 2 weeks later, I get a call from The Boat House. The manager - who is trying to hold back the laughter - offers me a $100 gift certificate to change my team name to "Boat House Grill". I immediately accepted the offer and picked up my gift cert.

I guess the manager did not realize that only 12 people were going to see this. Maybe she just thought it was funny. Whatever. This may be the first time a free Yahoo fantasy team has ever been sponsored.

    You should have contacted Goldenpalace.com.

They would have been all over that.

    You should have demanded bonuses..

your team makes the playoffs? an extra 20 bucks.. wins it all? an extra 50..

Good job. Now think bigger, your fantasy football stadium still needs a sponsor.

    :lol

It can be the EV1.net bowl...wait. We already have that.

*gets beaten down by Dave and any other EV1 CF.net-ers that may be lurking around.

I should have thought of that, since I have a good shot at winning it all. I got Portis, Edgerrin, and LaDanian, so my chances are as good as gold.

Oh, and be sure and visit the good folks over at The Boat House Grill. They will have some crispy golden catfish fillets waiting for you.

If you've got three of the top 7 running backs in FF you're either 1.) playing with family i.e. grandma, pawpaw, brother, little cousin Jake 2.) In a 6 team league 3.) drafting with major mental midgets.

Props on the corporate PUNKD though. Excellent.
