I hear it's influences all over pop now. You don't hear Daft Punk on the radio much, but I think Kanye West doing a mix of one of their songs blew the door wide open.

    It depends.

The new "Hip Hop" uses electronic elements and most Clubs play it.

Is Trance mainstream like it is in Europe? No.

I'll say one thing. Australia is the new France in terms of Great new Electro.

To tell you the truth this is my sweet spot.

I'm an Electro geek. They synth to me is like the electric Guitar for most.

I'll say though. People respect it a lot more now than before.

    Junior Boys fan?

I think this is my most favorite song ever. I want it played at my wedding and funeral.

Please learn to differentiate between trance, house and auto tune. Trance is for losers, house is for winners, and auto tune is somewhere in the middle.

France is still king when it comes to retro electro grooves and remixes. Australia is better for new age stuff. The electro you hear in America doesn't come close to crossing over... it's still more poppish than Electro. If America had enough class and rhythm to enjoy house the crossover would have been made with Madonna's album "Confessions on a Dance Floor" which was more electro than pop. As expected, it performed poorly in America compared to Europe and Australia.

I do think the indie scene is incorporating a lot more techno into their songs compared to a decade ago. And if they don't, they'll be remixed by someone who knows what they're doing. Electro isn't as poorly received as it once was in America, but it's not close to becoming mainstream. Especially when it requires a rapper spitting crap over a great beat to make it on the radio.

Breakbot (French DJ remixing Australian Indie band).

There are a lot of smaller guys in England making great remixes like Alex Metric. London has a very underrated electro scene, mainly because the clubs that play great electro music aren't as big and gaudy as the ones you see in Ibiza/Prague etc. Alternative remix:

    Classic house, timeless and classy.

    Best America has to offer:

Canada is light years ahead of America when it comes to the indie/electro/house scene:

I wish it would become more prominent in Houston.

No need to try to "serve" me Ron. ;)

I hate Trance. I mean I used to like it when It was good. When Oakenfold actually tried.

I'm Indie Electro mostly. The French House will always be in my heart. I'm going to see Phoenix here later this month :)

The french remixes of Aussie bands are kicking serous ass though.

I don't know what draws people to Tiesto besides the atmosphere of his concerts. They must spike the alcohol with ecstasy. As soon as trance and hip hop gained a worldwide following they devolved into the stupidest forms of music.

    Enjoy Phoenix.

I was with you until you came up with Spiller - Groovejet and that godawful Kaskade song. This cheesy crap, which gets put on every mainstream Ibiza compilation, isn't much different from the crap, commercial trance sound that sell-outs like Tiesto keep on playing.

But you are correct that some forms of house music are the ****.

I really like the re-emergence of electro/"indie-dance"/nu-disco as well. The darker sounds of dubstep are nice too, a little bit repetitive even for electronic music standards.

Electro should not be confused with electro house btw, which is usually crap as hell. And don't get me started on David Guetta..

i'd say that has a lot to do with the indie movement... groups like MGMT, Ghostland, Presets, etc. have become incredibly popular lately.
