I think it is nice he's going to talk with the Fans. Not many people actually do that these days.

I highly doubt we'll trade for anyone unless he's going to trade Kirk Synder to some team but that would only be for cap relief.

I thought I would post the answers in here as they are posted in chat.. in case anyone can't attend... (I will just update this post instead of creating a bunch of them)

durvasa: What's the best way to rate a team's offense and defense, statistically (e.g. ppg, FG%)? Do you think one side of the ball is any more important than the other historically? And in particular, is it true that defense is more important than offense in the playoffs? Thanks, and good luck with the rest of the season!

Daryl_Morey: best way to judge offense and defense is points/poss scored and given up per possession. Defense historically has been moderately more important but you generally have to be top 10 at both and very good at something. We are currently 2nd in defense and 17th in offense.

Hayesfan: What do you think of the plan to add 5 NBA franchises in Europe... is it plausible?

Daryl_Morey: I know the commissioner is looking closely at this. The arena infrastructure in Europe is not quite there although new arenas in London and Berlin are starting to correct this. The travel is quite difficult. I think if there is enough money in expansion that a structure will be worked out.

jsmee2000: If you could pinpoint the Rockets team success to one stat...which one would it be? and finally, which stat do you believe they can improve on as a team?

Daryl_Morey: Our defense has been the key to our success so far so I guess points allowed per possession. Our shooting has been our biggest issue so effective field goal percentage is what we need to improve.

G-449152688: Are the Rockets looking to make any moves to bolster this team? Maybe a true point guard or a scoring power forward?

Daryl_Morey: We are actively looking for moves to improve the team now or in the future. At this point, nothing is imminent but we have several things still pending where we are waiting on other teams to respond.

floridarocketsfan: In your opinion, is the Southwest division of the Western Conference the toughest division? If yes, Why? If no, then which division is and why?

Daryl_Morey: Absolutely. 4 of the 5 teams are the top 10 best in the league. Given there are 6 divisions, there should just be 1 or 2 top 10 teams per division if it was spread equally.

Kevin: Daryl -- First of all, thank you for taking the time out to answer our questions. Who or what is the culprit for our 4th Quarter meltdowns? Is the coaching? Lack of mental toughness? Complacency? How do you correct this and prevent it from happening again?

Daryl_Morey: The one good thing about our difficulties giving up large 4th quarter leads is that we are a team that both last year and this year has the ability to build large leads. Most teams cannot do that. That said, we absolutely need to improve our 4th quarter execution. Coach has been working on that along with looking at his rest patterns. With the benefit of hindsight, we might have rested our main players at the start of the 4th against Sacramento instead of leaving them out there to hopefully keep or build the large lead and then putting in the bench.

Daryl_Morey: We are happy in the Western Conference. If you want to win the title, you still need to be a top 4-6 team in your conference no matter how difficult it is.

Daryl_Morey: We are trying to build a team that can compete for the title every season. Our discount rate on the future is still very high, however, as many teams often only get a few chances to even be in contention and in a competition of 30 with only one winner, you need to take risks. That said, I think our discount rate is lower than some contending teams whose players are on the downside of their careers. Nearly our entire rotation has a few years to go in their prime or will be entering their prime.

It would be completely stupid of him to share what's really going on. The fact he even does this is pretty neat. Asking questions about stats and the past is where you'll get the knowledge. Asking him who's on the trading block and who they are trying to get is just absurd.

It's so funny listening to the way that he answers questions compared to other general managers in the NBA and other leagues. How many other ones would describe the future of the team using discount rates?
