Simple question: Would you vote for a candidate for President who at one time was a citizen of Indonesia?

Where is the "Trader_Jorge is truly terrified of his quickly approaching 11% hike in income tax" option?

    Bracing for impact.

Also, lol at the idea of the State Department and entire United States government being blind-sided by a presidential candidate's presumed nationality because, you know, they were going to look into this kind of thing eventually.

Also, would you feel comfortable voting for a man whose birth records indicate his loyalties lie with a swath of territory that no longer exists? Could this be the sign of a coming rip in the space/time continuum?

I would really, really struggle with voting for a candidate who had been a citizen of another country. Even if he was my dream candidate. And even if he was dreamy. I dreamed once that something very wild is about to happen.

You really ought not drink and post -- it makes you even worse than usual, which is stunningly epic failure.

I like the like-minded polls you've spawned. LOL.

Chicken George has been crowing for some months about how Obama doesn't have a chance. So SamFisher bet him 6 months of posting. If Obama wins, George shuts his troll hole for 6 months; if McCains wins, Sam does. The Cowardly Troll pretended to consider it then went poof like always. So now, every troll post he makes, he gets the same response. You should try it. It's fun.

If Obama held an Indonesian passport or himself initated or took any action that would make him a citizen, yes I would be concerned.

If there is some Indonesian law that makes him a citizen for having lived there or having a parent that is Indonesian - I don't care.

Obama clearly sees himself as an American. So this to me is more of an attempt to smear him and cast his patriotism in doubt.

And that means he's not patriotic? I'm a citizen of the world as well. it's called being an earthling. Have you ever traveled? It's a great experience.

By the way, traveling and exploring the world doesn't mean you are less patriotic.

Yeah, I'd much rather have a President who sees everyone and everything outside the US as expendable, who sees any search for common ground with our allies as unpatriotic.

I can't imagine how much you must hate John F. Kennedy.

TJ - here's what i don't understand about your postings.

First off - you are an intelligent person. That much is clear. which is what makes this so puzzling.

You put forward an attack on "libpigs" as you describe them that are so very far out of right field that they provoke a response from the left but everyone else kinda just rolls their eyes out. I mean, we're pretty smart people on this board - do you really think this thread is going to shift anyone's opinion???

OMG - Obama is an indonesian citizen??? C'mon, you know that isn't going to work on anyone here - which leaves me to conclude you're just trying to atagonize folks.

Also, if the Repubs pull this kinda of attack (and it wouldn't surprise me) they are trying to go after people who they think would be impressionable. I mean, their whole advertising campaign (and it seems you repeat much of it here) is about not using facts or logic, but fear and insinuation. the irony of it is, don't you think it's very cyncial to try to manipulate people with fear and questionable claims??? I mean, calling Obama a celebrity that eats aspargus and goes to the gym as a reason not to vote for him???

What on earth? Is that suppose to make people forget about things like the deficit? I mean, to me, anyone who would try to see people as so low that they could be swayed by this junk isn't just a cynic - but they are also the ones who are an elistist for thinking others are so easily controlled.

But give the folks here some credit - I bet you haven't persuaded a single person. So why not try to drop the nasty tone and say debate on the actual issues. There are legitimate points of weakness in Obama's platform. Attack those. Attack his experience, but in a calm way. Fine.

But all this other junk - it's not doing anything for you. Yes, it antagonizes guys like Batman JOnes and mcmark - which can be fun for a while to be sure - but it gets old. And they are getting to you as well. They aren't dumb. They know your game. They are playing it back at you too.

    Anyway, that's my two lincolns.

He said he was a "proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world." to Germans. Then he ate the heads off of a bunch of babies. It was awesome.

Indeed he did, and it is quite scary. Only really scary people have ever used this phrase. It's not like it's a part of Western Civilization or even has a place in American History...

To prove the point that this is really scary, here's another scary guy saying the same thing...
and then there's this guy (who really was scary to a bunch of people)...

    And of course, this guy...
