This practice continues to amaze me. I see men walk in, do their business at the urinal (once even in the stall!) and leave without going anywhere near the soap and hot water.

I don't want to embarrass anyone---but is there anyone among us whose does this? I'm wondering about the rationale behind it. Since it's so prevalent, I always use a paper towel to open the door when I leave the bathroom and I'm waaaaayyyy cautious about eating at buffets and the serve yourself islands at cafeterias and restaurants. I realize you can only go so far in keeping yourself clean---but I was always taught that soap and hot water are a very basic minimum.

I hate to touch those faucets, and even if I do, I have to touch the door on the way out.

So I just lick my hands clean.

I can't LOL cause I'm at work but damn if my eyes aren't tearing up.

    gettinbranded,

Maybe those other people just don't get piss all over their hands like you do :p Seriously, I usually give my hands a good rinsing and even soap them up if I'm about to get food or meet with someone at work. Never understood how people can take a leak or (worse) a dump without washing their hands afterwards.

Also, did you ever notice that it tends to be professional bigwigs(attorneys, accountants, bus. execs) who are the worst about not washing their hands. I worked in a law office for awhile and some of those guys were just vile.

    I don't, you know why?

I actually wash my privates when I bathe and I can pee without getting it all over my hand. I then flush the urinal with my elbow.

There's just as many germs on the faucets.

Yes, yes. I'd agree with that about 100%.

Me, if you think about it, your pee-pee could be the cleanest part on your body.

I washed my hands once last year, after I punched out John Lieber.

ooh... I hear ya... I see that all the time. I mean, yeah, maybe you're clean, just showered or whatever... but what about that urinal/toilet handle?

and as far as salad bars, buffets, I too tend to steer away from them as well as public sampling trays (like samples of cheese or chips, etc...) I do find it hard however to skip the Star Pizza buffet...(my one buffet vice)

actually I just find myself washing my hands at various times throughout the day whenever they feel dirty, especially after dealing with others PC keyboards and opening door handles, and of course after handling mail... of course, not in an obsessive compulsive way...

No disrespect---and I don't know why---but that sounds way arrogant AND nasty to me. You shake hands with people like nothing doing, don't you?

I don't wash my hands. In fact, I make a point of it. I go out of my way not to wash my hands because of the social pressure to make everybody do so. I get the feeling that the social compulsion among women is not nearly as strong even though the mechanics for women make it a more high-risk operation. I think it isn't an issue of 'unclean' urine or germs at all, but an aversion to the idea of male genitalia touching something that touches something that you might touch. Isn't that a bit silly?

My parents taught me to pee in the urinal and not on my hands.
