I just drove about 1,000 miles in about 12 hours (from Germany to Barcelona, including fuel breaks)...then it took me a couple of hours to unpack etc...it's 8 a.m. now...so I am pretty exhausted :).

Fortunately, the French police surrendered and did not try to enforce their ridiculously low speed limits (around 65 mph) against me when I was going at 100 miles per hour for a long time... :D.

I was thinking if that was the longest non-stop (except getting fuel etc.) trip I have made as the sole driver of the car...I think so, at least when driving alone.

    What about you?

P.S.: By the way, a strange example for how the Internet changed people's behavior...10 years ago, could you have imagined that some German guy drives 1,000 miles and the first thing he does after his arrival in Spain is to go online and check if some guy's nuts in Houston are still itching??

I drove about 1100 miles in a day (about 16 hours) when I was moving from Houston to dallas. I drove from Houston to Dallas went back to Houston, loaded up again, then drove back to Dallas.

I once drove 200-300 miles in Houston in 1 day. Never left the city limits. Now that was odd.

    Orlando to Houston

A little over 1000 miles, I drove non-stop and was damn near crazy by the end of the trip after popping NoDoz for the last few hours of the trek. The worst part was going through Beaumont, it seemed like it took 4 hours to get out of there...

Before I started back to Houston, I went from Cape Canaveral to Orlando to drop some friends off at the airport...so the overall drive also includes an extra couple hours prior to Orlando.

It took forever for myself to go to bed when I got home at around 4am, my body was shaking and everything...

    Fun drive though...

I got a ticket on my way from Houston to Orlando though just outside of Tallahassee. I was going over 100 mph for most of the night after I went 30 minutes without seeing a car. Of course, the next car I see is a freaking Florida State Trooper. Once I got into Orlando, I decided to invest some money in a Radar Detector, haven't been pulled over for speeding since...

Longest solo with no one else in the car: NY to Chicago, fuel stops only.

Longest as only driver (but with someone else for company) and without stopping to sleep: NY to Houston.

longest drive i did was houston to l.a. though i couldn't make it the whole time without sleeping. it's funny how time sort of changes when you are on a long drive. its like a 100 miles becomes a lot shorter.

Wow. Some amazing drives, you guys are nuts. NY to Houston, we have an invention called an airplane!! :p

Actually I would love to drive through every state in the Great 48 one day. Some gigantic road trip...

I've done Houston to Destin, FL and then back 4 days later.

Also Houston to San Antonio and back in the same day. That was a long day.

Houston to El Paso, and then El Paso to Los Angeles the next day. Each day was 12 hours...no idea what the mileage was (close to 2000 miles total).

Driving through the Big Bend, from San Antonio to El Paso on I-10, has to be one of the most boring drives on the planet. You know it's boring when you are driving by yourself and playing "count the roadkill" along the way.

As only person in car - Austin to Santa Fe

As only driver, but with other folks in the car - Houston to Eugene, Oregon. Drive up was great, beautiful scenery most of the way. Saw the Dead, don't remember much of the drive back.

I drove from Houston to far east Dallas (Sunnyvale...where my inlaws live) one Friday after work and got there close to midnight. I slept for about four hours, woke up, had a five minute shower and was on the road by four. I drove close to 2,000 miles from Sunnyvale to Rock Springs, Wyoming. I was pretty tired, and it was getting late. I slept until about 7:00 the next morning before we took off again, but we took it a bit slower from then on out. I did have my wife in the car with me, but she slept quite a bit. I will admit that she gave me a break for a little less than an hour, but I had already logged about 1500 miles that day.

We eventually ended up in Canada above Glacier National Park before turning around to head back home (which was the Texas Coast at that time). All in all, we did over 6,500 miles in my wife's fairly new Tahoe in a period of two weeks. The weirdest part was getting an oil change right before we left, getting one in Jackson Hole about a week later, and getting another one shortly after we got back.

Actually, the weirdest part was probably the fact that I used my food dehyrator to make apple chips out of 35 pounds of apples. We ate every damn one of those things.

Okay....another weird part was that the "rush" to get up there so quickly was based around us wanting to be in Afton Wyoming on Sunday morning to witness the American Water Spaniel field trials and pick out our new puppy (who was only five weeks old and stayed in Afton until we picked her up on the way back).

What a trip....Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks made it worth every minute.

I probably drove about 97% of all miles logged.

Man...I just looked at what you wrote and thought, "how can that make sense?" If I drove from Dallas to Wyoming, and it was 2,000 miles (I checked it on Expedia), then how can Houston to Boise be 2,000 miles? I checked Boise to Houston, and Expedia says it's a bit over 3,000 miles.

However....that doesn't make sense. I probably averaged close to 70 miles an hour for a total of between 17 and 18 hours. That's right at 1,200 miles.....there's no way I could have made 2,000 miles in that time.

So Expedia must be wrong...and you must be right.

However, my odometer did tell me that we put around 6,500 miles on the vehicle that trip.

I drove from Washington DC to Houston, but with another person. Non-stop. We switched every few hours.
