I was looking through YouTube and I didn't see any of the Apocalypse Yao videos on there. So I decided to upload them myself. Who made these by the way? I've always had these, but I never knew who exactly made em. Apocalypse Yao - Chapter 1: The Throw Downs <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ORtypAv4Ujg"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ORtypAv4Ujg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORtypAv4Ujg Apocalypse Yao - Chapter 2: The Fineness <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hqLPR8Gf4yQ"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hqLPR8Gf4yQ" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqLPR8Gf4yQ Apocalypse Yao - Chapter 3: The Visions <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/msbCLt7IoeQ"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/msbCLt7IoeQ" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msbCLt7IoeQ
Thanks. Haven't seen those in a while. I used to have 'em on my old computer but I lost them to a hard drive crash. One thing that sticks out from watching the third video is that while Yao doesn't have a lot of passing highlights, the ones that he does have are fabulous. The touch, vision and awareness that he showed in those passes are amazing. Those glimpses are the main reason why a lot of people feel that that part of his game has not been tapped or taken advantage of. Don't get me wrong, Yao Ming as he's currently progressing as a low-post scoring force is everything you want out of a big man. But from an aesthetic point of view, I'd imagine that putting Yao in a free flowing offense where his creativity can go wild, would be an absolute thing of beauty.
JuLiO-R- and whoever created those videos, thanks for the efforts! Can't wait anymore for Chapters 4, 5, 6...
Oh and as for who put these videos together, I don't remember who originally captured them, but LegendZ3 took the footage and compiled these three videos. Edit: Okay, I did a search and found out that ecinokc encoded all of this footage of Yao and made it avaliable as clips. Later on LegendZ3 mixed it, edited it together and added the music. So big ups to ecinokc and LegendZ3 for their efforts. And props to JuLiO-R- for sharing them again.
Wow watching these videos makes me really really excited about Rockets next season. I can't wait to see Yao dominate the paint again.
Watching Chapter 2 really makes me want TMac to take it to hole as much as possible. When the opposing center helps on the drive and Yao is left open near the free throw line he is unstoppable. He has a nearly automatic jump shot from that range. He could also drive to the basket and complete one of those insane moves for a man his size shown in Chapter 2. He could even start a drive and dump off to someone for a dunk. His unparalleled combination of power and finesse make this spot on floor perfect for him. Also did anyone notice how great Francis looked with an inside presence (Yao)? It's a shame that his ego got the best of him because he would've looked great with Dwight Howard in his prime in Orlando. Along with what I said in the first paragraph, JVG needs to get Yao to face the basket more. Teams have become too comfortable fronting and possibly putting another man behind Yao in the post. Keep the defense honest by giving Yao a chance to take it to the hole with his underrated ball-handling. However, the main advantage I see from having Yao face the basket is it gives him a better view of the court so that he can show off his playmaking skills from the post that have been largely wasted the past couple of years. Anyway, I'm not griping. I Just want Yao and the rest of the Rockets to live up to their potential. I can't wait for the season to start.
Yao has such good court vision and great touch on the pass. His pass is right on the money in traffic too. It's a shame he did not use it more with JVG.
I love the way Stevie would always crash the boards....In almost every other clip...you'll see Franchise sky in for a put back dunk. Don't care what anyone says......I always loved Stevie
There are plenty of them on youtube. For whatever reason, there are just a lot of Yao haters out there. Here are a couple of examples http://youtube.com/watch?v=LVul4Q4_rCU&mode=related&search=yao ming http://youtube.com/watch?v=N72xclXlg8I&mode=related&search=yao ming
These fools used fast cutting and repeatedly showed the same dunks from different angles. Watch the 2nd clip carefully, you can tell there are only three different dunks and one block by Amare but they edited to make it like Yao had been dunked on by Amare numberous times. If you watch the Apocalypse Yao video, you can find at least two dunks and four blocks on Amare by Yao too. Yao is Amare's b****? LOL, they have definitely not watched any Rockets-Suns games before or they only watch the sportscenter. These morons obviously have thick skulls.
the "fineness"? what kind of thread is this? a lockerroom thread or something? anyway, thx for the vids. in yao we trust... no matter how much lindsey, carroll, jvg, and les screw us over.
Those are okay clips but I would be far more interested in seeing Yao clips that are a little more recent. Nearly every play from those clips in this thread are from Yao's first two seasons - both the good ones and the bad ones. Even Shaq got punked a few times his first few years in the league - most notably by Hakeem in the Finals. Yao is a far more aggresive and skilled player now than he was back then. I would love to see a compilation of clips from this past season. By the way - isn't it weird to see how small Shaq looks when he guards Yao? He actually looks like LSU's "Big Baby" Davis comapred to Yao....
